been wondering if there was a list anywhere to tell what current apps use Sonoma's AudioCopy/AudioPaste protocol...
quick google search revealed this ;)

49 apps that use AudioCopy/AudioPaste

hope someone finds this useful.
I did!

Isn't is bizarre ( or lazy) that 2 of the biggest developers korg and Ikmultimedia choose
To ignore this function, or even worse not even offer their own solution.

Post

We're not ignoring it. We aren't a one-man one-app shop that puts out updates in a day. If we update something like this that could and probably should be across all apps (over 15) we consider all of them at the same time even if it gets released in succession. There's a larger process at hand with developers that are (allegedly) "biggest". I'd bet Korg doesn't just drop things in willy-nilly either. Edit - not to mention that we'd roll in other updates at the same time, like almost every other professional audio shop does.

We've stated that there will be a solution to this. Things move fast enough, but not always overnight.

darn good question, topaz!....and equally darn good 'splanation, Peter!
Sounds absolutely logical and VERY encouraging to know that you guys are working toward this.

though smart devices have been around for several years, it does take a minute for standards to settle in....And even longer if you are a company that has multiple applications that would be affected. No one (developers/companies) wants to jump too soon and commit to something before it's established and reliable, but at the same time, most devs are aware that accommodations should be made so that applications don't have to operate in a vacuum. The sooner that standard is established, the more powerful mobile devices become as a creative tool.

Post

Too wordy on my part though. Basically, a double-edged sword. One likes to think things through, but one also likes to make sure they keep pace with a VERY swiftly-moving technology. There are a few things that are supposed to be on board that should be the right decisions in this regard.

There are currently 72 apps by 33 devs that supports audio copy and paste:

http://www.sonomawireworks.com/iphone/mapi/

However, the number is misleading because it only covers Sonoma's approach and not general pasteboard transfer like in Beatmaker II, Noise.io pro, Meteor, Aurora and others from my sig, which can be used in conjunction with Sonoma.

Korg is onboard as well as Propellerhead with ReBirth for iPad and I  that IK Multimedia will follow, as well as others such as in future updates of IL 's upcoming Fruity Loops mobile version.

Also, the upcoming drummachine from fingerlabs

http://www.fingerlab.net/website/Fingerlab/DM1.html

will hopefully provide pasteboard transfer, if not in it's release, then in future updates.

Garageband did recently apply general copy and paste but only as import, you can not export songs as wav to pasteboard (yet!) :x

There are others like iSyn from Virsyn that haven't seen an update for ages that would benefit from copy and paste (as well as a sound triggered recording system).

Amen!

Just buy and download the apps. Pasteboard transfer is incorporated. Go to their manuals to see how to use it.

There are currently 75 apps supporting sonoma copy and paste

http://www.sonomawireworks.com/iphone/mapi/#apps

and 20+ apps on this list supporting Intua pasteboard transfer, excluding the apps that appear on both lists.

That is quite a base from which to build an iStudio of your liking.

Also, there is a work around for those apps that have no copy and paste transfer but email transfer instead (e.g. garageband,ImproVox):

You can send a mail to your the mail adresse that is synced to your Device and open it in apps like Fourtrack, TwistedWave or Beat Twirl for further transfer.

And remember to make official requests for copy and paste to the DEVs of other nice apps that don't have it yet.

Cheers

Maybe but my experience with iPhone explorer reveals ia cluster of directories in many apps. Thus to get to a recorded wave file could require a lot of browsing into sub directories. In these cases copy and paste or even email might be quicker.

I'm still pretty new to that stuff, but so far it looks good as iFile let's you create bookmarks so it's very easy and fast to access any of the apps documents folder (in ifile it's a must to enable application names).

I also created an audio folder and dropped a few audio folders from my pc to the pad using IPhoneBrowser. Then within iFile I copy some of these files and pasted them in a nanostudio subfolder but as link instead of a real copy and nanostudio had no problems playing them. That's pretty cool actually.
Pasting a directory as link doesn't seem to work though, would have been nice.

Also...

Reforge 2 (iPad)

and

AudioView (iPhone)

These two have the added bonus of being able to transmit audio between them wirelessly (e.g. from iPhone to iPad) so you could create a loop in NanoStudio, audiocopy/paste into AudioView (iPhone) and transmit it to Reforge (iPad) and then audiopaste it into studio.HD (or General PasteBoard into Garageband).

I use this method all the time. I think they call it AudioX

By the way, we are giving away FREE PROMO CODES for TwistedWave Audio Editor. Be quick to be in with a chance!

Cool Alex! Did not know about this.
However, you will still need to be on a network to perform this, it seems?

With the mail method, you can still send a mail with a file without being on a network (just like copy and paste), because if your iDevice can not send it, it will place it in the "send" folder from where you can access the file and open it in one of the above mentioned editors. Thus, you do not have to actually send the mail to open the file.

Best regards
