Hi jbridge King :)

I purchased jbridge because i recently purchased waves oneknob louder and oneknob pressure . I didnt know waves plug ins are all 32 bit.

Anyway, I tried to use jbridge. I premit i have the SAME PLUGIN FILES ( i have copied them ) into the following directories:

c:\programfiles\steinberg\cubase 6 64\vstplugins and:

c:\programfiles\steinberg\vstplugins and:

c\programx86 ( 32 bit)\steinberg\vstlugins

Maybe I made a mess because now many files appear in 2 versions ( in Cubase, in the vst insturment interface: the normal one ( for example, sylenth1, and another one ( sylenth1 64 !!!)

2) what is waveshell? is it a .dll file? and where shuld it be located in my vst plugin folder ( inside the waves folder, utside it and always within the cubase 6 64 bit vstplugin folder...and so on...

3) Is there a way to reverse this problem? and anyway ( im a newbie of jbridge, its the first time i use it9 could you please tell me how it works?

that is to say, the first plugin folder jbridge asks me to select is the folder with the 32 bit plugins or is instead the folder TO WHICH i want to have the connection with the 32 bit plugins ( for instance, the cubase 6 bit\vstplugin folder? Or is it the reverse?

Thanz please help me im going crazy

Hello. :-)

I don't recommend that you scan both the original plugin and its bridging files, it's known to cause problems in some hosts.

You should set Cubase to scan only the bridging files, in that case.

2) The Waveshell is a dll "container" for the Waves plugins, it's usually all you need to bridge, your host will pickup the plugins it contains from there ( if it supports shell plugins ).

3) Please have a look here:

http://jstuff.wordpress.com/jbridge/jbr ... ing/782-2/

It's exactly what you need to do, and remember, in your main VST host, only scan the bridging files of the plugin, not both. ;)

Hi and thanx for the quick and clear answer.just two questions:

1) for "bridging files" you mean the 32 bit ( waves, in my specific case) files that are not supported by my cubase 6 64 bit host?

2) what can I do to revert and remedy the mess i did ( as I said, i now have multiple versions of all of my plugins in cubase , one with the normal name and one called ( for instance) Sylenth1 64 ... ?

Post

Hi.

1) Yes, for those 32bit plugins, you'll need to create bridging files that will be read by Cubase 64bit, and will take care of the communication between the 32bit plugin and the 64bit VST host.

2) In the folders were you place the bridging files ( the ones you mentioned above, search for all the files with "*.64.dll" and *.64.txt" in their names and delete them. That should take care of the problem and won't affect your existing plugins.

You may want to try to place the 32bit plugins that you'll be bridging in another folder that won't be "seen" by Cubase and then create bridging files for them from there, and place those bridging files in one of the folders that Cubase is scanning. You should be fine that way.

Hi

In my history of "asker" in the forum, i admit this is the clearest answer i have ever received.

Ill try to do it, you know i am on holiday now and do not have my music pc here, so i am a bit anxious for not being able to solve this problem immediately :)

I'' try to do what you told me and will report back to you.

Thanx very very much..

Hi forgive me but now i have a big problem

i downloaded waves one knob loude, one knob pressure and now i have also purchased maxxbass ( always from waves)

I followed you instructions, i created a folder into my c:\programs\cubase6 64 bit\vstplugin , called ( bridged plugins) and followed your instruction on jbridge ( run as administratr fr all the three programs of jbridge and also fr cubase 6 64 bit)

But when i rescanned the "waves " folder ( located in c:\programfiles (x86) )
to bridge also maxxbass, the same error at cubase start occurred ( could not find waveslib 8.0.dll in your computer and so on..) so i did not find waves plugins inside cubase.

Also, i deleted the .xml file of cubase for vst2 plugins, and rescanned the folders but with no result.
At last, i copied and pasted the waves8.0.dll directly in the

c:\programs\cubase6 64 bit\vstplugin

flder, so t make cubase find it, but it crashed and my system crashed and now i am re-installing cubase.

I am going mad. Could you please help me? which options of jbridge i should use so as not to have this problem anymore?

Hello.

Could you email me with your user data and the file with the extension .jBridge that should be inside the folder where the waveshell is ( that file is where the settings for jbridge are stored )?

I'd like to send you a test build to try to address that problem.

hi
i have sent to you an email

id only like to know which are the options i have to use ( during the bridging procedure using jbridge) so as to solve my problems ( for example, if to select
the "Thorough file analysis" option or not, if to enable "replicate subdirectory structure.." or not, or if to enable or disable other options .

Please note that i have the 1.3 version ( latest) of jbridge, and in this version there are more briddging options to select than the ones described in the page: http://jstuff.wordpress.com/jbridge/jbr ... ing/782-2/

thanx a lot

Hello.

Sorry, I need to update the tutorial with a more recent pic.

The "thorough file analysis" option makes the tool load the file that's being analyzed to check if it's really a VST plugin, I don't recommend turning it off, unless you're sure that the file you want to bridge is a VST plugin.

The "replicate sub-directory structure" option, it creates the same sub-directory structure in the destination folder where you'll be placing the bridging files ( if it contains plugins in sub-directories ), if you turn it off, all the bridging files will be placed in the root of the directory you have selected.

Hello.

I am Psycle's developer ( http://psycle.sourceforge.net (http://psycle.sourceforge.net) ) and I am integrating jBridge for the upcoming release.

The integration is working, but i have problems with the sound.

I have digged it down to the number of samples that the vst is asked to process.
Psycle, being a tracker, sends commands at specific intervals, which depend on the samplerate, beats per minute and lines per beat.
To do so, it has to ask for unusual amounts of samples, and concretely, that it doesn't always ask the amount of samples that the effSetBlockSize says.
Concretely, effSetBlockSize has to be understood as the maximum amount of samples that the Vst will be asked to process.

I have planned to change this and improve using a list of VstEvents properly timed, but that's out of the scope of the current version, as it implies that the player (the sequencer itself) has to be changed, and that hasn't worked as well as i wanted so far.

As such, I am asking if it would be possible that jBridge follows the amount of samples which it is informed in the calls to Process/ProcessReplacing/ProcessDouble method calls.
(I haven't had a problem with VSTs in this regard since 2001 or so. Of course i don't try them all, but still...).

You can download an alpha build here to reproduce it: http://psycle.free.fr/josepma/psycle1.8 ... 110709.zip (http://psycle.free.fr/josepma/psycle1.8.8beta20110709.zip) . You need msvc 2008 runtimes.

load it, setup the vst directory in the Configuration->settings dialog, directories tab, and also enable there the support for jbridge (enabling it will allow to inform the 32bit directory).

Then, doubleclick on the background to open the new machine dialog, press the check for new plugins button so that it scans the plugins, and load one of them.
You'll see that by default it plays ok, but as soon as you change the beats per minute in the toolbar, it will start to sound bad. That changes the amount of samples that the machine is asked to process.

Got the same problems under Cantabile 64 bit with JBridge even run in an isolated GUI, when i place back my 3.1.2 DLL everything 's working fine again.
The error appears directly after loading the Plug-in even without subhosting.

But under 32bit without Jbridge it seems to run fine at first sight.

Hi I have a problem with waves Trans-X that i have recently purchased

I had solved my problem by putting the "bridging files" into c:\programfiles\steinberg\vstplugins\bridged plugins

and it all worked well for one knob luder, one knob pressure, maxxbass and x-declick, but with trans x i dont manage t load it into cubase!!1

p0lease helpe me!!1

Post

Hi.

Did you created bridging files for the Waveshell or for the individual plugins? Does trans x appear in Cubase's plugin list at least?
