By the way and a bit off topic, Silver (Silvio) Pozzoli, under the name of Ypsilon, also sang the theme song for the Italian edition of a Japanese cartoon

Sorry, couldn't find a decent quality video (this has something wrong at the beginning of the track and messes up the rhythm and sounds pretty crappy), it's a great song if you can listen to it with the original quality (and yes, quite obviously inspired by Boney M's Rasputin, who cares, it's great just the same ;-) )

Italian theme songs for Japanese cartoons from the 70's and 80's is a genre that enjoys a wide following of fans here (I'm among them).

I adore the italo disco style.
Got in contact with it when I was ~10 years old back in the 80s.
In sweden we had a series of italo mixes called 'max mix' (1 to 9).
Lots of the very best gems are on those.
Regards,
/Kristofer

I believe a song called Ballerina was by a Swedish band, right? That's beautiful - did it ever come out on CD (not mixed with others and from the original master)?

Lime - Angel Eyes was my jam back when I was a teen. Couldn't get enough of that analog drum Tom fill.

I found Proxyon among my old records (not uploaded by me though):

And then we have Hypnosis version of JMJ's Oxygene:

Hypnosis, you say? That's a blast from the past. I always loved this cut, just a really nice electronic dance track (with some very obvious influences there) plus the solo at 3:31 is a really nice touch and takes it further away from Italo Disco for me. Then more solos from 5:10. I just wish the solos were longer! :

Did anyone mention this:

(I still have this, and still play it.)

When it comes to Fun Fun I really like 'Happy Station', which has some very cool sounds, which is generally unusual for Italo Disco. :hihi:

And hear those vocal edits. Is this the real precursor to the Stutter Effect? You thought BT did it first? Nah! It was Fun Fun!

I'd be happy to debate that with you. I heard on this song way back when:

It's from the album Giorgio Moroder produced for her. I have the Hot Tracks (DJ Service) remix of it, but can't find a video anywhere. This is as close as I can get. Listen at 2:30. There's much more on the remix.
The actual first time I ever heard it used was here:

It's toward the end. It's also the first time I ever heard someone speaking lyrics (rapping). It preceded Blondie's Rapture by a few years.

I know it's an old thread, but couldn't resist..
This I should mention as my italo-disco hymn at that time

KATA - Fires In The night

Common Sense - Babylon
