It will be free for current users of MixControl :)

I'm also feeling gui eyed... about the new look. Can't wait for the update.

Hey thanks! We're very much looking forward to releasing this new upgrade and moving on to a few new (much requested) projects that MixControl users will be especially pleased with :)

This was actually going to make it into the final release, but after quite some research and customer response, the icon based filter selection was taken out because of the amount of esoteric filters planned for future releases ;)

An update to all: we have run into a few unforeseen issues while creating the new beta that may jeopardize the backward-compatibility. We can do one of two things - keep the current version available in all user accounts so that they will be able to be used in prior projects requiring MixControl, or it will require a rewrite of some portions, prolonging the release of MixControl Pro but will allow backward compatibility. Which would users here prefer?

Out with the OLD in with the NEW... make this new one good enough that the old is simply forgotten. ;)

Sooner than later please. :P

I agree.. just separate the two. Normally I consider backwards compatibility a huge deal.. but in this case I'm thinking maybe we need to start fresh?

Doesn't hurt you (DNR) to keep the old version up, does it? If not, then that's the way to go IMO.
MixControl isn't "big" or bloated, so I doubt anyone would max out his hard disk by having two versions installed... I always thought the new MixControl Pro would be a new plugin rather than a remake of the old MixControl, and if it is - it seems to work alright, why not keep it that way?

I agree on the fresh start. The old version available is enough for backward compatibility, in my opinion.

+1 to going full-bore new code.

no need for compatibility in my case

I agree with everyone else. I wasn't even expecting backwards compatibility because of the re-design. I'm considering Mix Control Pro to be a new product.

Another vote for fresh start. I'm more than happy to keep the older version around for old sessions. The new Voxengo plugins are all that way too (not backwards compatible). Bring on the new version!

Yes, initially we were intending on naming it differently as well because of the amount of new code involved in this version, and I think the fresh start is the way to go personally as well :) We wanted to bring this to the users before deciding on a path, so thank you all for the input and support on this issue.

Also for those who really care, they can load the new one also and tweak its settings to match the old... then save.

Fresh start so we have the ability to implement even more awesome features. ;) No reason to restrict ourselves to the old one.
