Protrekkr - New Version Out

It fixed a REALLY nasty bug that would scramble modules with alot of samples or large samples. Go get it.

It's getting better again maybe it's gone into another development frenzy. I'm just happy I can begin using it again, personally it inspires me more than any of the VST hosts I have. I don't quite know why either, maybe it's the lower resolution lol.

I think you'd like sunvox. A bit different way of working, but still a tracker. It's cross platform. One of my favorite features is to be able to work on a song on my palm pilot to start off, then moving on to pc when I get time in front of mine to work on it, etc.

Coolest thing is you can use it like a regular tracker (i.e. each pattern is self contained) or you can use it's arranger (ala buzz). Completely up to you.

Also, if you have a supported handheld device, you can start a track away from home, then finish it up when you get back in front of the computer again...

Just saying, it's worth a try, I think. I think right now it's 9 bucks...i bought my copy for 20 bucks...and the author is really open to suggestions on features and the todo list is, like, spot on and I know he make it happen...

i'll have to try it out the fact that it can run on windows ce is pretty darned cool, is the interface customizable i'm not sure about those little pictures on the arranger i'd like to do without those if i could. thanks i'm gonna give it a go.

Yep sorry about that, that's the homepage for it.

I looked at Renoise as well, but for me Protrekkr has a better feel right now and I think it's set to go in a good direction... more of one that suits me. I don't want a "professional" music app... i've got tons of those and they just aren't that fun. I just want something that's fun to use, I'm not a pro and matter of fact the only way I would sell my music is if it was for a game, movie, some kind of multimedia thing. Not to say Protrekkr won't be more "pro" one day, but I don't think it will ever be about that. I think he'll constantly improve the quality of it but I don't see it ever being a commercialized thing, it being a demoscene app and all.

grave digging yes... more goodness been going on with this program. I really wish this tracker would get more exposure. It's got a whole lot going for it. It has a bunch of great effects, all sounds can be run through the synth which means there can be something like instrument instancing and reuse, using the same instrument for several sounds. It's a tad short on dsp's compared to renoise, but there's alot you can do with sampling and occasionally more dsp effects are added. Some ppl might like the 303 (like rebirth one) it's quite nice. the interface is excellent. Oh ya and it's 100% free. Only thing I use VST instruments and effects anymore is for making samples to use in protrekkr.
