Recording stereo audio into iPad

That would probably be overkill - anything simpler and cheaper?

If you have the camera kit and the latest iOS you can look for class compliant interfaces. These should just be plug and play. I picked up a Presonus Audiobox USB to give me stereo i/o and midi. Only problem with it is you need a powered USB hub as the iPAD 2 can't supply enough bus power for it. Not as simple as straight line in/out but would probably sound better.
