After playing my first Breedlove I want to change my answer.

That looks very sweet man, might have to keep an eye on them for the future.
I will upgrade my Epiphone dreadnought at some stage.
What was your original answer btw?
I wonder what I want in here
-my site is gone and music a mess

Looks cool ! :tu:
I'm only familiar with the old, Fralin loaded model, they were awesome.
Is this an SE ?
If so, how's the trem compared to a regular PRS ?

Yeah, I miss that guitar...but the neck was just too big.......I always had to struggle with it (though power chords always were the shit with it!)

I was looking at what an SE goes for now........holy F...K! Believe me, mine was MUCH cheaper (hence the great price)

I can't say, I haven't used a real PRS trem in years.

Why do Breedlove have to completely spoil a lot of their guitars with such ugly scratchplates? They could be the best playing/sounding guitars on the planet but I'd never have one because of that (if I could afford one that is)

Plain black, or better still, none at all for me.
RIP Black Tom and Beckett. They weren't just cats, they were MY cats, the best cats ever.

With a company like Breedlove that should be negotiable.
Often these guitars come without guard fitted and have a self-adhesive one in the case, just in case ...
My Gibson came that way, too.

I was wondering about resonance (remember your issues with hibidy's SE tailpiece) and tuning stability (the original is perfect, as good or better as most Floyds I've seen, of course with a more traditional range)

Most likely negotiable if you deal with them direct, but the very few I've seen first hand and most, if not all those stocked by online dealers, have had scratchplates.

It's just me, my Richwood RG-18-CE looks infinitely better *naked* imo, but wouldn't last 5 minutes as a gigging guitar due to the satin finish, lack of scratchplate. All this has just reminded me that I'm just as guilty of doing something I've long wondered about, why do people dislike certain guitars due to headstock style, size, etc? Here I am, doing the same thing

Well, some things just don't look right, everybody has preferences.
Nothing to be ashamed of in my book.
I'm not a 7ender snob at all, but all my clones need to have Stratocaster or Telecaster decals at the headstock, it's not about deceiving people (those are high quality guitars I'm proud of), it's about the classic look, the shape of the letters.
The Tokai letters on my 335's headstock on the other hand don't bother me a bit, they got the shape of the letters right somehow, so that the classic look is not lost for me.
If that ain't weird ... :o

Things start to go wrong when you buy an instrument purely on looks imho, guitars should rather be judged by their tone and playability.
The choice between equally fine candidates might just as well be influenced by subjective criteria like looks, coolness or childhood memories.

Like my Jackson Kelly with the skulls :hihi: (note I put 'coolness in bold in your quote) In fairness as a guitar it was exactly what I wanted, I always wanted a Jackson Kelly, the price was right, I really love the neck but I call it my 'little red sports car'. The skulls did first catch my attention and then I started checking it out, I liked what I saw, I like how it sounded and I liked how it played so I bought it.

The neck is really very, very nice but much better suited for a strat. It plays 'big' and feels 'big' but it isn't big, I feel as if I have more area to play on but I really don't. The low profile tremolo is awesome too, but the guitar itself is too big so really it's a better performing guitar.

FWIW the neck on the new ESP/LTD MH-350FR I bought is a bit nicer and feels tighter too me yet basically it's the same specs except for fret size.
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

ok, I'll report back when it arrives. It lacks locking tuners but I might add those on.

I make this mistake more and more lately. :(
