Wow nice praise, grats. :)

But what does this mean exactly: Upmixer?

"If this plug-in is piped into an upmixer, it would hold its own against anything out there regardless of price."

I think that the "upmixer," in this case, is a plugin that takes 2 channels in, and outputs 5.1, or some other surround format. Some of the upmixing processes I have heard are amazing, in that they can take a stereo input, and position the sound sources in a natural way around the surround input.

I just put up a new blog post, with some recent press and accolades about ValhallaRoom and ValhallaShimmer:

I'll work on dropping some more DSP science on the blog later this week.

I didn't get around to that. But I have been dropping a bit more DSP science into ValhallaRoom...

OSX VRoom users, feel free to send me a PM if you want to test ValhallaRoom V1.0.7. There are a few bug fixes (largely around Pro Tools and PPC), plus a few dark changes.

Well, if you are on OSX, send me a PM and I'll send you a link. The PC build is happening this morning, and shouldn't pose any difficulties.

I have a beta version of ValhallaRoom 1.0.7 available for all users, Windows and OSX. The changes:

- Improved Pro Tools performance
- Better PPC performance
- Two new reverb modes. They are dark.

If you are a ValhallaRoom user and you want to test this, send me a PM or email, and I'll send you a link. I hope to send links out to all users on Monday, and put the new demos up at that time.

The new Dark space algo is amazing

A melody from Final Fantasy VI played with Zebra trough the Dark Space algo:

Very sexy - in a dark expensive way, Bronto and Sean. Sean gets co-credits on this, right? :D
perception: the stuff reality is made of.

Jesus, this is a great reverb!
Just finished mixing a demo for an artist who requested deep and wide reverb. Downloaded the Room and had to buy it instantly. The price is also great, actually extremely cheap for what you get (although the artist paid it for me!)
My name is Jonas.

Indeed!

I demoed the vRoom yesterday and bought it almost instantly. This is my favorite reverb plugin now (used to be the UAD EMT 140). I love how natural the reverb feels. Good work, Sean.

Gotta try the Shimmer demo too soon.

Here's a review of the latest beta, from Terry Manning:

http://prorecordingworkshop.lefora.com/ ... om-reverb/

Terry was one of the users reporting PT 7.4 errors in the last few weeks, so his review is a good explanation of the original bugs, and the fixes introduced in the new version. Around the same time, I had been playing with a few new "dark" reverb modes, so I decided to fold them into the release with the PT 7.3/7.4 fixes.

ValhallaRoom has been updated to version 1.0.7. Changes since 1.0.6:

- Fixed a GUI bug in older versions of Pro Tools (7.3/7.4).
- Improved interpolation quality for PPC versions of ValhallaRoom
- Improved "short names" in Pro Tools insert/send windows. The shortened name now shows up as "VRoom" instead of "Valh."
- Two new reverb modes: Dark Chamber and Dark Space.

A bit about the new reverb modes:

- As the names suggest, they are dark. All frequencies above 1/4 the sampling rate are completely attenuated.
- The modulated delays are cleaner than the deliberately dirty delay modulation used in Dark Room.
- The modulation in both modes is more balanced than the modulation used in Dark Room, resulting in less random pitch shifts and more of a "detuned" decay.
- Dark Chamber has a fairly even initial echo density. In this way, it is similar to the Large Chamber reverb mode, but with deeper modulation and a much bigger size.
- Dark Space has a lower initial echo density, and can have a bit of a delay of the onset of reverberation with high settings of Late Size. This also results in a wide stereo image.

The links to the new ValhallaRoom version have been sent out to all VRoom customers, and new demo links have been posted to the ValhallaRoom page.
