Just checking to see if this if there's anything new with this. Was being developed at a very fast pace for a while, with updates every few days. Been quiet now for a bit, though. This is such a fun tool, and I'd love to see some of the most recent ideas incorporated.
Thanks,
Dan

Thanks Dan. Nothing new yet, but I would like to get some of the feature suggestions in there at some point. I'll definitely post updates as they become available.dreadnought wrote:Just checking to see if this if there's anything new with this. Bumpage for a new version .. 0.6
Here are the changes:
+ Simplified Rover/Obstacle mouse controls
+ Nudge and Drag controls
+ Ramp Draw control for sequencer
+ Length Jitter
+ Repeat Length
By default, the rover and obstacle palettes have been combined into a single palette. A left click on a cell enters whatever obstacle or rover type is selected. A right click in a cell clears the cell. If you prefer the original behavior (separate palettes, click to rotate, ctrl-click operations to add obstacles) then enter the line "Palette Double" in your .ini file and Nova will revert to the original behavior.
Nudge pushes the newest (or oldest) rover forward one step. Drag moves the newest (or oldest) rover back one step.
Press Control key while dragging in the step sequencer area to activate the ramp drawing helper.
Length jitter to randomly vary the note length.
Repeat length sets the time unit for emitting repeated notes.

Have fun.

Your welcome.
Forgot to mention that the storage layout changed again in this beta so previously saved projects using an earlier version will not load correctly in this version. Sorry for an inconvenience ...

dear mr tonecarver man
i have been playing a little bit with your nova machine
i think it has become a funky fab tool
that repeat length jittery bit makes for stupidfunky bass
i can't imagine bass without it now

Just noticed this was updated and added all the stuff I was hoping for. I'm glad you took the time to really polish this up, ToneCarver. Like everyone said, thanks so much for a great generative tool. It's so much fun, and can be as easy or as deep as you want it to be. What a generous gift to the music community. If you ever find yourself in Portland, Oregon, PM me and I'll buy you a beer or two.

both bass parts and the big chord sequence
which are all nice simple sequences

made with nova3 with no random bits
(i have been messing with much more complex sequences but these just tickled me)
such a lovely tool
