Hi there, I've been an iPhone user for a few years and I love composing and messing about with music apps. I recently bought an iPad2 and with the apps available for it I'm considering replacing some of my hardware with it.
For example Korg electribe r mk2 hardware with iPad ielecttribe, and kaossilator hardware with iPad thumb jam and tnri.
What hardware and or software have you replaced with an iPad?

Well, since you asked
My quick iPad history... Got iPad 1 April 5 2010, sold it and got an iPad 2 in May of 2011......
Not really music related but.... a netbook, an eReader (sony), Nintendo DS Lite are things I sold on Craig's List since I have had an iPad. I don't use my desktop much at all now.... a little photoshop, but to be honest I do more and more photo editing on the iPad as well. iMovie on the iPad 2 is great for doing fun family (or otherwise) movies....
As far as music goes... it is starting to seriously replace my PC for that as well. I just find relaxing on the couch with my iPad 2 and my little Akai keyboard better. At this point it is not near as powerful as the mature applications on the PC... but it is a heck of a lot more fun. I also enjoy working within the limitations, and not having every little bell and whistle. It is a hobby for me, and if I'm not enjoying it then why do it....
I have been using computers since 1980, and online since 1984. I think in my case I am just sick and tired of sitting in front of one, and clicking around with a mouse. Old school computers were great in their day, but for me it's getting time to move on.....
I think the iPad 4 or iPad 5 will completly replace my desktop.... at least I hope so....

With apps like TNRi, ThumbJam, Soundprism, Filtatron, and Gruvtron, would they be a good replacement for a Korg Kaossilator?
Also I was thinking that if Korg brought out an iKaos app that combined the kaossilator pro and KP3/Kaos Quad with multiple sample loop options that it would be a great app.
Also I'd like to see an ielectribe A and S, and be able to sync and or sequence them all together.

I use Safari, Mail, TouchOSC, Flipboard, Twitter and AirVideo mostly. No need for laptop for now. I'm used to work on my desktop after all.

Could still do with a decent presentation app - Keynote is too cut down to be useful to me at the moment. You would think it would be the ideal environment for presentation and multimedia authoring apps but there are hardly any (or even any decent web design apps)

I am currently using my iPad2 for music making, mails, surfing and some basic document writing in "Pages". I think it has great apps for electronic music and do not miss my hardware or laptop in this respect. But I do actually think it is rather primitive for working with docs and presentations (I agree with @aMUSED in this respect). That is kind of wierd because I would have thought it would be the other way around: That good doc-programs would be easier to implement than music softwarethebaggytrouseredone wrote:What hardware and or software have you replaced with an iPad?
