Great - testing it now...:)

Well then! I guess I'll be the first to post a demo!

Wooow! Thank you!

Were these modes something you'd planned all along or a happy accident?

I feel bad complaining about it now, but the new dark modes are so good with judicious use of the high cut and when I drag(or automate) that filter up I get unsightly pops and clicks. This is until roughly 4500hz.

Anyway, thanks again.

Here is a quick and dirty demo playing my soprano sax through the new ValhallaRoom "Dark Space" mode - very nice Sean, I love the new algos!

I intentionally created space in ValhallaRoom to add reverb modes in future updates. But I didn't know if I would actually update the plugin, or what the new modes would end up being.

The low fidelity "Dark" modes honestly took me by surprise. I was working on the next Valhalla DSP plugin at the library one day, got bored, and started tinkering around with a new reverb idea. After about 20 minutes, I had an embryonic form of the Dark Room mode up and running. Once I heard it, I knew that it was a perfect candidate for downsampling and up-dirtying.

I'll look into this. The High Cut filter isn't smoothed, and the artifacts generated by moving the slider might be more extreme at lower internal sampling rates.
Anyway, thanks again.
Thanks for being a Valhalla DSP customer!

THAT is just a feast of sonic goodness. I love how the reverb at the beginning obviously has the modulation turned up way too high, so that the sounds decay away into gliding sidebands. And then it gets really cinematic. Nice work!

It sounds like I need to create a new "Taj Mahal" preset with the Dark Space algorithm. :D

Seriously, your sax playing reminds me of the stuff I really like about the Paul Horn ambient pieces. Which makes your more electronic sounding tracks that much more of a contrast.

Thank's man, I'm more a lyrical player and those phrases I made for one of my Kontakt libraries, together with your reverbs that is just beautiful :)

Sweet stuff. It would be cool, if at the end of the explosion efx stuff, the reverb could be automated to suck itself into a really tight space.

Here is a demo processing a turnado-twisted-beat with ValhallaRoom Dark Chamber mode automating the Reverb length on the fly...

Yes.

You found one of the secret sounds of ValhallaRoom:

- Turn the DECAY way up.
- Over the period of a second or so, make the DECAY really short.

The result: A reverb sound, that builds in volume as you shorten the decay.

Why this happens: I have some semi-clever math going on in ValhallaRoom, such that the reverb is the same volume over all settings of DECAY. In the long term, this works. However, it will result in some strange artifacts when you change the DECAY setting quickly, as the gain normalization needs to catch up to the current gain setting. I suppose I could have done a lot of fancy math to eliminate the artifact, but it sounded so darned cool that I decided to leave it in.

Again, thanks for the great sounding example.

LOOOOVE this! love FreqEcho too.. can't wait to see what amazing thing you are making right now!

Same here Sean. Vroom is my default reverb now, and I'm putting Shimmer to good use in my songs too.

Would still love to see a Valhalla Plate or a delay with tons of wobble and sloppy tape goodness.
