Yes.

You found one of the secret sounds of ValhallaRoom:

- Turn the DECAY way up.
- Over the period of a second or so, make the DECAY really short.

The result: A reverb sound, that builds in volume as you shorten the decay.

Why this happens: I have some semi-clever math going on in ValhallaRoom, such that the reverb is the same volume over all settings of DECAY. In the long term, this works. However, it will result in some strange artifacts when you change the DECAY setting quickly, as the gain normalization needs to catch up to the current gain setting. I suppose I could have done a lot of fancy math to eliminate the artifact, but it sounded so darned cool that I decided to leave it in.

Again, thanks for the great sounding example.

Yeah, I noticed the lag and resulting artifacts while tweaking that beat, so don't touch that, it's great :)

Now I gotta try and convince myself CSR is just as good and I don't need this frookin plugin. :x

Sweet stuff. It would be cool, if at the end of the explosion efx stuff, the reverb could be automated to suck itself into a really tight space.
Ah yeah, I know what you mean! I think Sampleconstruct did some of this in his Turnado Beat demo

Plus haven't IK basically said they're not sure if they can be bothered to update CSR to 64bit?

dunno what planet I was on when I first decided i didn't really need "yet another reverb plugin" .. anyways, I gave in yesterday, and have been using it today in a Project, and I have to say it is simply stunning!
I did get a life,once...but it was faulty, so I sent it back.

IK actually said they will be doing a 64bit CSR update, just no word on when as of yet.

If any ValhallaRoom users have tried Lion yet, let me know if things work for you. I've had one report that it is working as a 32 bit and 64 bit Audio Unit. I've finally finished downloading Lion, and need to find a spare drive to install it on.

Obviously, I wouldn't recommend that most people update until all the DAWs are working. Right now, Ableton and Pro Tools are still working on Lion compatibility. Apparently Logic works OK-ish on Lion, and some DAWs are reported to work flawlessly.

I know it sounds cheap of me, but is there likely to be a 'bundle price' for your two reverbs? I've got my eye on a few purchases at the moment, but funds are fairly limited.. :)

Yes. $100.

:D

In all seriousness, if I offered a bundle price now, I would piss off a bunch of people who have bought both ValhallaShimmer and ValhallaRoom already. My philosophy is to pick a fixed price, offer a ridiculous amount of DSP goodness for that price, and stick with that price.
