maybe you should start slowly and first sit on one of these for a while

Yep....yep yep yep...........same shit, different Neanderthal.

*now a note to all the non-listening idiots "luthiers" who somehow know they can take advantage of me and not do simple basic no-brainer things even when I SPECIFICALLY made sure that was my most important thing*

Why can't you see what I said? Because there isn't a rating system here and it's not fair to the children :hihi:

I should have this pretty soon:

I finally got round to replacing the faulty jack socket on my AcePro AE625 today, after the best part of 2 months unplayed it's like having a brand new guitar again :D :tu: The downside is, tho' it was like this before so it's nothing I've done, the bridge bucker is pretty noisy when used with distortion. It's not s/c > distortion noisy, but compared to how quiet the neck pup is it surely means something is wrong, but I can't for the life of me see what  :? (the pups are both Swineshead Condors and pretty hot)

Any suggestions as to what may be going on here?
RIP Black Tom and Beckett. They weren't just cats, they were MY cats, the best cats ever.

My dreams are all nightmares. I'm still just fuming over this......I can't believe it. It just doesn't make any sense :bang:

Seems to me that luthiers are expensive because they are few and far between. They are so full of themselves because of the title they think they can do no wrong.

I pulled out my sherlock and did some serious "investigating" under the best light in the house and discovered too many things to think about

I like ibby, but ffs, I could have done a better job with the the nut than that :x

Looks like it will require a trip to SF to take it to an authorized dealer.

Yeah, I'm pissed.

Ian,
measure DC resistance (at the output jack, all pots fully open).
If you can split it, compare with full HB.
If not, compare to factory specs.
If something's fishy here I suspect one coil is partially shortened, eliminating the HB effect. Not uncommon, the enamel layer on the wire is thin.
To verify that you'll have to unsolder the 4/5 wires and measure the coils individually.
Is the cable shield properly grounded ?
Hope that gives you some ideas ...
Good luck,
susiwong

@ the nutcase : :P
Forget authorized dealers, that doesn't mean crap.
Find a good craftsman locally, or buy a set of files and a few blanks @ StewMac and learn to do it yourself
Btw, my local shop charges between 10 and 30 €, for a perfect job.
You can wait for it and watch if you like.
In the rare case they mess something up they'll fix it at their expense of course, no questions asked.
You won't find them in the internet though, only local.
Btw, for regular customers they match any realistic online price too, with the added obvious bonus of try before buy, free first setup for guitars etc.
One of these shops has to be in your area, too.
Smaller is often better ...
Good luck,

The tab key is broken on my onscreen keyboard.

Of course you suck @ DIY, ever heard the terms "learning" and "trying again" ?
Nobody is born with nuts as his special ability, well, not sure about the first part.
Oops  , almost made a dubious statement, this is a minefield. :scared:
At least I could avoid some of the worst wordings. :phew:

If that's too much, put s thin piece of veneer or plastic under the nut (of the guitar), or at least a piece of tin foil underneath the rattling strings inside the nut slots.

Hey, if you're cursed you can't afford to .... . ... .
There, finally censored. :-o

Oh well,

before you put tin foil under anything it's very important you chew it for 30 seconds
