Nice videos/sounds Peter!

Ever since getting OPX Pro II, I can't stop loading it up and playing it more and more. I haven't been using anything else really for a couple weeks now.

Regarding AU, believe me if it was that easy it would be there already (would give us a lot of additional sales). But time unfortunately is always a factor. And since you want to make music NOW, we made great efforts to offer you the best "work-around" solution for the very moment, which is the VFX Edition. It's not as comfortable as an AU, but it works for recording OP-X PRO-II to your track on Mac, and this right NOW; check this video - it's playing OP-X PRO-II on Mac while recording audio to Garage Band:


Regarding AdmiralQuality, I didn't see any negative in his posts; of course he's right that one would rather expect some typical Oberheim sounds coming out of it looking at the GUI, and then maybe is surprised if it does Jupiter-8 sounds

I personally think that PolyAna has a great smooth and clear tone, one of the best out there imho, it reminds me a lot of Prophet-5 somehow, but it's too a synth that's not limited to emulating just one specific synth; so yes, why not do a Jump demo with it? I would really love to see this! Regarding GUI, this is always a matter of taste - e.g. there are people who don't like the "reality-like" 3d GUI of OP-X PRO and rather prefer the more sober GUIs of the NI suff. I admit that I personally would love to see a version of PolyAna with e.g. some sort of extended Prophet-5/T8 GUI or alike - but it's all a matter of taste; the most important is still what kind of sounds you have on your tracks in the end (at least imho)

That was the closest you got. However comments like "Too bad almost none of those songs used an OB-X/Xa/8" made no sense (to me) either, particularly when it takes little time to verify that there are multiple other OP-X Youtube videos available which (just maybe, ya think?) might cover more Oberheim specific sounds.

And where have I mentioned that I happen to make a softsynth too? By what logic am I not allowed to comment, just because I happen to know how to make these types of products too? If anything that should make my suggestions MORE valid.

Just as you are free to post your opinions, so others are free to interpret your words and respond accordingly - That's the general idea of a forum. I commented on how some of what you wrote came across to me, which includes the ever subjective "reading between the lines". That was my personal opinion. Now you've stated your response, and I'm sorry if I misread your words.

I also thank you for your concern that the world should have more Jump demos. How about you post your own video of the correct way to play it?

This is from their legendary concert 1980 in Berlin in front of 175'000 people (many germans may remember it!) when they actually performed it for the very first time!

Barclay James Harvest (short BJH) never made it in the US and mainly had success in Germany and Switzerland, although they were a UK band. Too sad two of the 4 original members already have died - the drummer (Mel Pritchard) died early in 2004 from a heart attack, and Wooly Wolstenholme (who left the band in 1979, and later returned to play with John Lees), sadly commited suicide only about two months ago (which was a real shock)

Check the records "Gone To Earth", "Turn Of The Tide", "Eyes Of The Universe" and "XII" which are fantastic, one of the best work in the pop/rock history; Especially in "Turn Of The Tide" they made a fantastic use of OB-X and Jupiter-8 (they had guest keyboard player Kevin McAlea involved, who too plays the keyboards in the Berlin concert)

The included presets are great, it would be cool if there were a few more that emulate 70's synths, mainly the moog type of sounds.

Yeah, easy, with no single cable plugged in. Could be done on any 2 things with keys.
But I do know of this guy years and years ago who got rid of his analog stuff and bought a PPG Wave 2.3 as he could program all the sound he used live and didn't need turning knobs as a maniac between songs. Then some years later he bought an Elka Synthex (as the PPG too often lost all memory settings ), again programmed the same sounds for the same songs still played live. So exchangable in hardware, yes, but I guess to a certain extend.

I'm wondering who ever thought that the laser harp isn't real. A genius like Jarre wouldn't use that thing so that people think it's real but it isn't. Actually, I don't really like that OP-X preset of the laser harp. It doesn't sound like the Synthex. No offence to the people who made the preset, but there are better examples available, like a soundfont etc. The other presets though sound quite interesting like the ones from the Jupiter or the Prophet.

[offtopic] I'm wondering if Arturia's VSTs are capable of doing that. I've seen so many people that blame Arturia's products, I just don't understand why. I know that people who tested them probably had a real Jupiter or a Prophet, but they expect the emulations to be 100% real but they won't. I really love them and use them very much since I never had the luck to own an 80's analog beast. But I hope there will be some for sale in a few years so I can get one. I wish SonicProjects could do another emulation like from a Memorymoog or something...[/offtopic]

You are correct since I don't see any amp connected to the Memorymoog. I don't even see a power cable lol.

I believe all the various Minimoog emulations include a polyphony feature. There you go, instant MemoryMoog (except in the software case, it will probably work correctly).
