Click on the notes button below the waveform area. Then points will snap at horizontal notes grid lines. This way you can use MidiShaper to precisely control pitch of your plugin, and draw in not just notes, but (with snapping off), note blends, smooth transitions etc.swivel wrote:Another slight bug I've found is having trouble placing a point exactly at y=0. It seems to skip from -0.01 to 0.01. This may seem unimportant, but I was controlling pitch in another plugin and couldn't get a 0 point.

Seems like these hosts do not send audio processing calls to MidiShaper then. Is the waveform calculated as soon as you hit play?jonahs wrote:The display isn't working correctly in Audiomulch, Plogue Bidule or Renoise on OS X. You can move the points, but the shape doesn't change.
Still, I'm ready to preorder.

I'll have a look.stoutlyric wrote:Using sonar 8.5 and I can't get it to work at all. I have tried adding it as an effect and a synth. when you add it as a synth, the midi output is always greyed out?
Has anyone gotten this to work with sonar?

Indeed there was a bug in MidiShaper. It's fixed now, and a new beta is up: http://www.cableguys.de/midi-shaper.htmlswivel wrote:Bug(?): in reaper, with MidiShaper in Beat Sync mode I don't get any plugin output until I either play a midi note from an external keyboard on the track or drop some notes into a midi clip on the track. However if I use the "Teach Midi CC' feature I do get output without doing this.
To reiterate, I drop an audio clip on a track in reaper, add a VST that can be controlled by midi controllers and try to modulate one of its parameters with Midishaper. It works in 'Teach Midi CC' mode, but not in normal mode, say Beat Sync. To get it to work with "Teach Midi CC" off I have to play a midi note on the track.

OK great! I just tested it and it works fine in reaper now.Jakob / CableGuys wrote:Indeed there was a bug in MidiShaper. In AM and Bidule It seems you have to wire audio in/out. With Renoise connecting MIDI seems to work. I'm going to do some more in-depth testing now.Jakob / CableGuys wrote:Seems like these hosts do not send audio processing calls to MidiShaper then. Can you explain the wave(number).(decimal)x,y type options some more? I mostly understand from dragging them around, but....
Could we get MIDI control of the random button and invert, etc? Unless I'm missing them.
Is there a way to morph between 2 shapes? This would be cool...Maybe using the snapshots?
LFOing your LFO is how you get the neat stuff going!

Sure! Every parameter can be automated, including wave points. The wave(number).(decimal)x,y is the name of the paramater. The 5th points of the 8th waveform has these parameters for example: "wave8.5x", "wave8.5y", "wave8.5type"jonahs wrote:Can you explain the wave(number).(decimal)x,y type options some more? Interesting wish. What you can already do, is to automate the waveform chooser for the LFOs.jonahs wrote:Could we get MIDI control of the random button and invert, etc? Unless I'm missing them.
Actually that is something that we plan for our synthesizer Curve. If Curve gets it, all other plugins will get it too a little later (thanks to the fact that they share lots of code).jonahs wrote:Is there a way to morph between 2 shapes? This would be cool...Maybe using the snapshots?

The current beta runs until August 1st, download it here:swivel wrote:Any timeline for the release of midishaper?
I was using the beta in a project but I think it timed out, also would like to use more than one instance.

We are currently working on a video and finalizing the website. And we still need to check how to set up MidiShaper with Sonar. As soon as this is done, we'll release; we hope that this happens within the next 3 weeks (if it does not happen until August 1st, we'll release a new beta which expires later).

Sounds good Jacob. Thx for working it out with Sonar also. Can't wait till it's finished. Take your time to do it right (as i'm sure you would anyway).
Thx again..

We just released another beta (the last one before release?) of MidiShaper. Get it here:
http://www.cableguys.de/midi-shaper.html
- Some changes to pitch modulation and slight tuning corrections when modulating pitch.
- Added presets.
- Fixed a drawing bug in the waveform area.
- Changed some help texts.

What would be the advantage of using this instead of Live's clips and automation?Jakob / CableGuys wrote:Glad you like the plugin!
I just quickly did another video which shows how to route MidiShaper in Ableton Live:
Let me know if you need an introduction on using it in other hosts, happy to provide that. And is anyone testing MidiShaper yet, and maybe stumbling across problems? Or improvement wishes?

I use it with Live's clips and automation, by recording it's output to clips and working from there.
Besides recording Clip Automation in the Session view for it's native devices, a dedicated LFO has to be one of the most requested Ableton Live features for years.
If you have to ask what the point is... well... nevermind
@Jakob, would it be possible to get the midi resolution to 64 samples ? anything under 128 (currently 32 being the next step up after 128) cripples my system. If I were to speculate it would be because you're recycling code from Curve ? Intended for audio ? I'm no programmer but I don't know why generating slightly better resolution midi data should be so seriously intensive, would love to hear some insight on that..

Sometimes the automation of a host might just be what you need, but for some cases MidiShaper is more useful. It allows for very smooth transitions in the automation due to its painting via splines. Most hosts only provide hard lines.DubFox wrote:I use it with Live's clips and automation, by recording it's output to clips and working from there.zerocrossing wrote:What would be the advantage of using this instead of Live's clips and automation?

Besides that, you can layer up to 4 LFOs, you can change the LFO speed etc.
Nothing easier than that.. I just added 64 samples to the MIDI resolution menu.DubFox wrote:@Jakob, would it be possible to get the midi resolution to 64 samples ? anything under 128 (currently 32 being the next step up after 128) cripples my system. Generating better resolution is no problem, but the hosts and plugins sometimes cannot cope with that. For example they might create undo steps for each MIDI step.
