Right now, Apple still didn't manage to "kill" the market, because Logic Studio, although "cheaper", is not "that cheap", and because the competitors have managed to increase their packs added value, while maintaining or even reducing the prices themselves - so, right now, are the users that are winning.
Nevertheless, where did you get the idea that Live is doing so well? And Reaper? Are there any figures anywhere that we could base our statements on? I would love to see some stats about the DAW market share nowadays, specially after the launching of Pro Tools 9.

I'd love to see your stats on the market Apple is killing. Or about to kill. You seem to think it's a 10 year plan. You obviously got to read some secret documents no one else has.

Looks like my initial post at Apple forums kicked off an interesting discussion. Although I can't find it so I wonder if Apple nuked it? Logic X will be awesome I hope.

Seems true, puh, Logic X seems to cut them all?

Logic X is not going to be aimed at professional users. Period. It's going to be more "garage band like."

Apple is essentially discontinuing logic as a pro app, and they will soon be getting rid of mac pros altogether.

Those in the know are already switching to Cubase, etc, and these are big, high-profile users.

10.7 is out now...

hope Apple will make Logic 10.7 compatible, only, but please no new version.

Why is it that apps built 10 years ago run perfectly in Windows 7, and Apple needs to make their own sequencer compatible with the newest operating system (which, if it's like to previous ones, only add a couple of useless new toys to the bench)?

I found a post stating that Logic 9 runs fine with Lion https://discussions.apple.com/message/15520586#15520586

But I still have to check it by myself.

Couldn't a similar argument be made for Final Cut? Yet apple took the time to rewrite that software, much to the joy and fanfare of its user base. Thus the speculation that Logic will undergo the same treatment.

I didn't see any sarcasm smilies. You should check out the creative cow forums for a different perspective on FCPX.

problem is they will make it ONLY lion compatible and say f**k you to everybody else (and they decided to not even support 32 bit processors, so thousands of users are just screwed in the ass by apple, again)
