It looks like Gamebooster is $10 per year per license and GamePrelauncher is $15 for a license that you can use on 2 PCs, but can't tell if that is just a one off payment or if that too is per year. Anyone know? Anybody have problems with the fact that GamePrelauncher is from a Russian company, or would that be paranoia?

Just trying now - don't like that I have to rebootaudiojunkie wrote:I've used Gamebooster for a while too, but it seems that GamePreLauncher may actually make a system perform better. The cost is $15. I'd be interested in your before and after comparisons: Gamebooster vs GamePreLauncher.

Crap it shut down too many services - like my NI hardware service needed for Kore to run. How do you select what not to shut down?

I think GamePreLauncher is also lifetime free upgrades, but I don't remember for sure. Also, yes, that would be paranoia.cytospur wrote:It looks like Gamebooster is $10 per year per license and GamePrelauncher is $15 for a license that you can use on 2 PCs, but can't tell if that is just a one off payment or if that too is per year. I still haven't tried it yet, but I believe there 'is' a way to choose what to turn on & off. Maybe metamorphosis knows?aMUSEd wrote:Just trying now - don't like that I have to rebootaudiojunkie wrote:I've used Gamebooster for a while too, but it seems that GamePreLauncher may actually make a system perform better. I've bought it already so maybe I'm not that paranoid, just healthily waryaudiojunkie wrote:I think GamePreLauncher is also lifetime free upgrades, but I don't remember for sure. I have to commend the support for GamePrelauncher. To install a second license on a separate PC you have to do a couple of bouts of e-mail ping pong to ascertain details of the machine that you want to install with. All painless and took less than 20 mins to sort out!
I'm very happy with the purchase and in case anyone is concerned I love russians, especially Black Russians and White Russians and preferably in quick succession

I did some more checking, and it seems there is an "AutoStart Drivers" option where you can enable/disable all of the drivers that start up.aMUSEd wrote:Just trying now - don't like that I have to rebootaudiojunkie wrote:I've used Gamebooster for a while too, but it seems that GamePreLauncher may actually make a system perform better. OK, now you have me curious.. Is this software using some form of Challenge/Response protection? I was under the impression that it was a simple serial # or keyfile protection scheme......cytospur wrote:I've bought it already so maybe I'm not that paranoid, just healthily waryaudiojunkie wrote:I think GamePreLauncher is also lifetime free upgrades, but I don't remember for sure. It's sort of between serial# and C/R. When you do the initial purchase from within the program you get sent an e-mail containing an activation code, which is machine specific. If you want to use it on a second machine you have to e-mail them. They e-mail you back to tell you to click on the purchase button within the program on the yet-to-be authorised machine. This opens up a webpage with an address and a machine specific code. You send the whole address line with code by return e-mail to them and then they send you another activation code specific to that machine that you copy and paste in to the program.
So yes, sort of C/R, but painless and very quick.

Just wanted to point out that I was a bit worried that there might be problems with my eLicenser dongle. No problems at all! No faffing about with drivers or extra programs. It just works

Bad sign. It stinks to not mention the price up front, big or small. The host is in the Ukraine, BTW.Jbravo wrote:any idea how much it costs to buy gameprelauncher? I can't find any mention of the price without installing it first

What are you getting at? The price is 15 bucks and the software works great. Others posted info about support being quick as well.lockheart wrote:Bad sign. It works for me. I couldn't bring the latency below 3ms, but a project was able to load a heavier load before getting the cpu crackles.
No problems with the reset though. Seems simple as it gets

Yes there is but I can't see any thing about doing the same with services. It's not as configurable or easy to set up as Gamebooster and worries me somewhat about what it is doing, especially as it requires a restart whearas Gamebooster doesn't and is much easier to restart without problematic impacts. When I restarted this one I found it had reset my shell programme to explorer even though I use bblean as my shell.audiojunkie wrote:I did some more checking, and it seems there is an "AutoStart Drivers" option where you can enable/disable all of the drivers that start up.aMUSEd wrote:Just trying now - don't like that I have to rebootaudiojunkie wrote:I've used Gamebooster for a while too, but it seems that GamePreLauncher may actually make a system perform better. The restart is purely so that you can properly cleanse the RAM of anything that is loaded in to it. Some processes are sticky, i.e. can't be closed without a shut down. If you want to totally free up the RAM then you need to shut down and restart.

Well, I can play amplitube using 64 samples fine with gameprelauncher but I could already do that. Checking DPC latency, it really isn't that much different now for me. I hover around 30 microseconds in windows normally when playing, GPL game mode I hovered around 25 microseconds.
I'm not sure how people get their DPC latency down to a constant 5 microseconds. I've done tweaking to win 7 and it runs great, but not down to 5 microseconds. I guess all this is moot since I don't have drop outs and everything works.
