Officially it doesn't but we all worked out how to add them - it comes with a couple of plugins it does support - Kore player VSTi and VST (FX version) as well as EZ Drummer. So just go to the folder they are installed in (this is hardwired to the Presonus S1 installation folder) and replace them with a minihost type plugin like Chainer or Energy XT (or I use the full Kore 2) - renaming the minihost to the same name as the plugin they are replacing. Then they will load and you can load any plugins you like inside them.

If you want Pro, why not just buy it?damoog wrote:...

Even if the aforementioned "workaround" for Artist works for now, it's just a matter of time before Presonus finds out and locks you out in the next update. Then where will you be?
If you can't afford it now, just wait. They are always having upgrade sales... Or you can snag one up secondhand in the market place.
(Seriously, just trying to save you some aggravation later on...).

Yes effectively as long as you use the "minihost" plugin (whichever you choose) to load and chain them.damoog wrote:so i can definetly use as many plug ins as i like inside studio one?aMUSEd wrote:Officially it doesn't but we all worked out how to add them - it comes with a couple of plugins it does support - Kore player VSTi and VST (FX version) as well as EZ Drummer. I don't remember the thread about the workaround for this but I think it has something to do with the NAMM show/and us who bought the very special priced "artist" version.
BUT, the "legal" way is to get the full version. Honestly, I'm kinda surprised you didn't know that (IIRC, this is a recent trade/exchange?)

it's not really strange, if you think of it like this: they already bundle a reasonable assortment of instruments and most of what you'd need in terms of effects plugins, assuming you're just looking to bang out some music, and don't have a slew of plugs or whatever already. so, it makes sense in that light, but those that do have a slew of plugs do find it a showstopper. at least there aren't any track limits.damoog wrote:am i right in thinking that the artist version of studio one DOESNT support vst,i have just read that it wont support vst-is that true?...kind of strange that it doesnt if this is true...im pretty amazed if it doesnt
+1. Find it on sale in the marketplace or something. A workaround is not "real" support. Besides, the way Presonus has handled the workaround thing is more than cool enough to warrant throwing the upgrade cash their way(see below).flugel45 wrote:If you want Pro, why not just buy it?
s1 pro is also a no-brainer if you like jambalaya.

Presonus already knows and has known for some time. Posts regarding this have not been censored on their forums, and a few updates have come and gone with no "lockout". I'd suspect they'll close the loophole with v2 (tentatively slated for this winter) if they're really interested in doing so.

Well I can't see why it wouldn't be - it's just a workaround making use of their own self created loopholeshibidy wrote:Seriously? The real problem IMO is that their instruments are really weak, and some of the fx also, with good instruments and fx they could very well have a very nice lite version of their DAW, as it is, is almost useless for anything but recording.
The Pro Version is quite better IMO, with a lot and lot of potential.

fair enough. while they don't seem to be particularly hot about closing the loophole, it did kinda bug me. being highly susceptible to "user conscience", i upgraded.hibidy wrote:Well, what I meant was that "vst/i" support is part of their "pro" package so I wasn't thinking it was "cool" to do that workaround for other FX than let's say......GR
yeah, i'll agree that it doesn't compete with something like logic express in that arena. i don't see anything stellar there, but most is at least serviceable (at least the fx), and that seems to be about the norm with most hosts, tbh. in the end, they need compelling reasons to push the upgrade.pc999 wrote:The real problem IMO is that their instruments are really weak, and some of the fx also, with good instruments and fx they could very well have a very nice lite version of their DAW, as it is, is almost useless for anything but recording.
also, not everyone relies so heavily on vst/vsti, and in such cases, the unlimited track count would be the "win" feature over most of the competition. people do post "created in artist" tracks every now and again, so it's working out for some (most likely the people that artist seems to be aimed at most directly).
i'm curious if/what they'll change with artist v2?
