I just found that the fine adjustment also works when you use the right mouse button (instead of the left one) while dragging knobs/sliders.aMUSEd wrote:No good - I dont have 3 hands - how can I hold shift or ctrl with one finger, mouse on the knob and press a key to hear what I'm doing all at once?Ingonator wrote:And with SHIFT + left mouse button you could do fine settings. About time more devs do what Fabfilter and u-he do and make GUI controls for keyboard players that not require keyboard shortcuts.

The 'gift' soundset sounds like a nice offering. Thanks.
Regarding the original Synthex sounds - I would never have bought Synthix if it only included, or was heavily biased to the original sound library. 'Lotuzia' is right IMO, balance is important. A mix of pre-sets that reflect the best of the original synth and what is possible beyond the original synth.

Thanks,
I will do this for the next incoming version
About Keyboard short cuts :
Left click : coarse tune
Right click (or shift+left click for the old Mac one button mouse if it still exist) : fine tune
On the tune knob : Alt+click, setting by semi-tone (same on the sequencer edit which is useful)
CTRL+click : default value
CTRL+ALT+CMD+click : open the MIDI CC, with te correct parameter selected.
Best regards
Xavier

Thanks so much for the rapid reply. It's great to hear details on the group buy only sound-set but as you say it would have been preferable if this had been announced before the end of the group buy.
Once again, congratulations on a wonderful instrument.

Well truth is that we were very surprised that we finally hit the 300 bar.
During a long time the GB was very slow, and a week before the end of the GB we were absotultely certain that we could not reach it.
Then the last days were just wonderfull.
So we had to rediscuss a bit the content of the gifts after some people gave us some ideas. We however switched back to our original idea, wich was an exclusive commisioned soundbanks, as all solutions including for example our lite synths ( PolyKB player or Xils3 LE ) were not satisfying because a lot of people do already have all Xils synths. So this could have lead to different solutions for different people, and as such a very heavy management of the whole thing, including a lot of time to spend on it on our site.
The exclusive soundbank has a real interest because it can only be seen as a "total gift" from our part, and also it will ( should ? ) be totally usefull to ALL Synthix users enroled in the GB.
Otho it needs some additional work to be made ( Select, test, organise, distribute the soundset ) so people will have to wait a bit.
Lets hope it will be well worth a little wait

You perfectly got the idea, and expressed it in far less words than I would be able to do.
Regarding the presets : ALl the presets we did with Paul are recreations of some of the best Synthex presets. Laser Harp is another one. Spinet is another one I can think of as well as some strings ( JMJ used a lot the Synthex strings ) Some of these presets CANT EVEN be found on the Original Synthex. They were part on a special Soundbank made by Paul Wiffen ( Who also creates a lot of the 40 synthex factory patches ) and who was only delivered to the happy few in UK, or to Paul's musician friends ( Like JMJ, Stevie Wonder, Emmerson, Asia etc ) So some of the preset you have there are quite gems extracted from a very glorious past.
Sometimes I added some extra features, like VEL/VCA, or light VCA/Filter. Some will say its betrayal of the original feel. I just prefer to think like Paul who told me something like " If these features would have been usable on the orignal Synthex, I would have used them A LOT "
If you dont like these extra features, just turn off the modulations except the ones wich can be found in the original Synthex (like the first LFO ), and you'll be sent back at once in the 80's
Honnestly we could probably have made a bunch of money by delivering a special "original Synthex bank Add On". I will just not make it : A lot of the original presets are not so good ( And this feeling is shared by a lot of Synthex owners including Paul himself, Stephane Bonvallet of Spectra, etc etc ). I have no interest in recreating them all, and I suspect that users who would have bought such a soundbank would NOT be terribly happy after getting as well. I'm just not able to design a product I cant believe totally in
Otho I can probably announce that some additional Original Synthex presets will be included in the Xils-Lab Synthex add ons. ( Reason is I already made them )
This will raise the number of additonal Synthex preset to around 25/30, and I still believe this solution will be much better that just "copying the original 40 ROM presets"

Here's an additional "Vintage Demo" we made with Paul during the holydays in the south of France. It has a kind of old vintage prog feel.
It only includes some of Paul's SYnthix presets, and tbh he made most of the track BUT .....
We did it on a small laptop with an early version of Garage Band, and a VERY CRAPPY monitoring system ( Altec lansing small PC monitors ) so that .......... if some of you could just give us a feedback of wether the mix is not so bad that we could not publish it on the Xils site we would be delighted ( As there's no way we can test the mix here ).
Hope you'll like it : Only Synthix and random GB drums, no EQ, even no limiter on the master bus ( we could not find one
)
So all comments welcomed ! Here it is :

100% with you on this LtZ, but I think what a number of people have been asking for, is for them to be grouped in some manner for easy identification (not everybody has your encyclopedic knowledge of the Synthex). At first it made sense to me for them to be grouped via their own bank much like the 'Putney Manual' presets on XILS 3 but if they're going to come via the bonus bank too maybe you could add a tag to the Style category "Synthex Inspired". That way people can easily locate those patches that are based on Elka Synthex originals. This will raise the number of additional Synthex preset to around 25/30, and I still believe this solution will be much better that just "copying the original 40 ROM presets"
As I've mentioned previously, I believe what you've created goes so much beyond the Synthex and I personally have very little interest in VA's that slavishly attempt to copy their inspirations; I do however think that it should be easy for people to find those 30/40 patches out of over 300 (accounting for the new bonus bank) that are emulations of Synthex originals.

Yes but they should be set apart in some way so people can identify them - either with a unique tag or in a separate bankLotuzia wrote: This will raise the number of additonal Synthex preset to around 25/30, and I still believe this solution will be much better that just "copying the original 40 ROM presets"
