Gonna go off topic, but I think inquiring minds want to know.....zakufan wrote:pretty simple setup, but that's all I need (could afford)
Is that a vrm box I see?
That Scarlett is something I've seen many people on many forums ask about...but you are the first I've seen with it. Is it killer?

That's all you need, I had heaps of s**t at one stage and just sold everything but the essentials, I believe anything can be done entirely with software and controllerszakufan wrote:pretty simple setup, but that's all I need (could afford)

What is that on your speaker stands?JD Gaffe wrote:
Sorry about the terrible bloom.
Nothing really special except my speakers, got them for more than half off from craigslist. I need to organize everything better..
I adore my 'God Hates Techno' poster.

One question, your speakers arent way too close to you in that position? I think that the recommended space was at least a meter.JD Gaffe wrote:Nothing really special except my speakers, got them for more than half off from craigslist. I need to organize everything better..

Yes it is a vrm box. It is really useful for people who work exclusively with headphones like me. It gives you better stereo image and bass representation.hibidy wrote:Gonna go off topic, but I think inquiring minds want to know.....zakufan wrote:pretty simple setup, but that's all I need (could afford)

I really like the Scarlett, it fits my needs perfectly. I can get the round trip latency down to ~13ms according to Cubase, which is pretty good.
Still, I figured out that if you have a firewire port, the Saffire pro 24 DSP would be a better deal for roughly the same money (on ebay), because you get the DSP dynamics processor for 2 mic inputs, reverb for all inputs, 3 more outs(2 less ins though), on board VRM capability and standalone mode.
I choose to stick with my Scarlett because I get more free usb ports with a usb interface since it won't take up my expresscard slot which could be used for a 4 port usb expresscard. The only downside to me is that it can't be bus powered.

Just my little DJ setup, two CDJ 200s and a DJM 500.james0tucson wrote: What is that on your speaker stands?
They are closer than I would normally put them, you're right, but until I buy a new desk I don't have much of a choice. Originally I had them on those speakers stands, but for some reason when I put them there the bass transferred to my downstairs neighbors really well. I think how this desk is built prevents a lot of the vibrations to transfer to the floor, as opposed to the simply straight narrow stand. One question, your speakers arent way too close to you in that position? @ JD Gaffe
I love those speakers, have some. They are a really great compliment to bigger ones also, as they have such crystal treble.
Personally I think God listens to techno!hehe

Put mouse pads between the monitors and the stands (you might want more than one on each side)JD Gaffe wrote: Originally I had them on those speakers stands, but for some reason when I put them there the bass transferred to my downstairs neighbors really well. The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.
