haha! Well, that is kinda annoying when you are on a dedicated forum and someone is trying to "stir it up".samsam wrote:The only problem I have with a tiny minority of Reaper fans is that they seem to gather on the Ableton forums and pimp their DAW at every available opportunity, gets a bit troll-like at times. But you're right, I guess we just vote for what we use.hibidy wrote:Oh, here we go again
I think anyone who voted propagates THEIR daw. There are a ton of reaper users here because it does almost everything, it's stable, it's cost effective, and it gets updated frequently*
But cubey or sonar or live or whatever users are going to stick by their DAW's too
So the whole "all reaper users are just fanboys" theory really bugs me
*There has been a bit of a stalling though while the reaps get 4 ready.

Yea, im a Reaper myself, and i have spoken alot about it in different forums, just of pure love, with no bad intentions. Reaper is just that great that people feel needed to express them selfs about this great tool. Reaper made my life alot easier, thanks a lot Cockos. And im a bit surprised to see that Reaper is in the lead, never thought it would be leading. But then again, why not.

I would take into account the huge price difference between full un-crippled versions of Reaper and Cubase.
It cost me about €280 to get my hands on Cubase 4 a while back by updating a 2nd hand copy of Cubase SL2 (and that was probably one of the cheapest routes to the full version of Cubase).
$40 will get you Reaper.
My point: If they were both $40 I'm sure Cubase would be way ahead.
Love Reaper though, always keeping an eye on it. Did I mention it's only $40!

Yeah, but here's the typical conversation on the Ableton forum I'm talking about:Wishoff wrote:Yea, im a Reaper myself, and i have spoken alot about it in different forums, just of pure love, with no bad intentions.
"A: Hey, Ableton's audio engine sucks. I import a kick drum and it sounds muffled.
B: That sucks man. Have you tried Reaper?"
Wrong answer. The correct answer would be "You need to go to Preferences and turn of "auto fade" on samples".
Not saying this is what you do but my God it's annoying (in a "not-real-world-it's-only-the internet" kinda way).
