The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Hink's idea of pulling the Floyd straight off is going to have this experiment happen sooner than later! :)

If you can ignore the styling for a few minutes, is this guitar tone anything like what you're going for, Eric ?

This'll be fun:

Bridge pickup that sounds like a tele clean (but with no hum), a Norton crunched, and an Air Zone for leads. Oddly enough, my tele with a Little '59 and a parallel switch in the bridge almost covers this.

Neck pickup that sounds like a strat alone (but with no hum), a PAF when combined with the bridge, and can magically transform to sound like a strat neck+middle for the SRV stuff. That weird Ibanez pickup switching that hibidy hates does as good a job of this as I've found.

I was about to be offended, then I remembered the machine gun sounds from Rebel Yell. ;)

See, that spring in the middle bothers because it's obviously got less tension on it than the outer springs. Is that a ridiculous concern?

After all this talk, I ended up having to use 4 springs on my strat, anyway, simply because the claw couldn't be screwed in enough to put enough tension on 3 springs (the builder put them in at an angle). I also broke the 9 month old high E so I'm thinking it's time to ditch the heavy bottoms/light tops. I'm trying this next:

Seriously, I meant the guitar tone. Strikes a pretty good balance between lead balls without rhythm mud imho.
I never understood why Stevens dragged that idle punk around ...

Thanks !
They should be fine PUs.
Stevens is a tone monster, always has been.
He was using a stock SH-4 back then into 800s, afaik a Rat for lead (not 100% sure about that OD, my cat suggested it )
A tiny bit of multitracking almost goes unnoticed.
