That new folder called "Fairlight CMI IIx-fabel" i copied into my Kontakt 4 library folder and then openend the nki files in the "Instruments" folder inside Kontakt 4 (i got the full version BTW).

In fact, at least on a Mac (and at least if you have StuffitExpander, free) you just need to put all four RAR:s into one common folder (like the Downloads folder) and double click the #1 RAR file - then everything is (should be) automatic.

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Thanks for the heads up guys, nesting/group opening the folders was a new one on me! I am using StuffIt, so I'll give it a shot...

LOVE KVR for stuff like this, nearly instant response to issues that would take days thru normal email tech support. NICE!

Still can't play it til I upgrade EVERYTHING from computer to OS, though!

Let's hear some reviews and examples over the weekend, show me what I'm missing!

The Dreaming from 1982 is chock full of Fairlight samples, and the title song is the second use of an orchestra hit EVER! Check it out if you want to see how cool major labels USED to be:

Just downloaded the stuff, and can't wait to get my hands it! I've only waited thirty years! :)

It's got to be Kate! Those Kate Bush albums were phenomenal. I hope she gets this sample library and does a new album for us :)

You can hear a lot Fairlight in this track. I'm not sure where he got those vocal sounds from, but non the less this is one of my personal favorite tracks.

Best regards from Johan Brodd.

Yeah I love the Zoolook album and I think it is full of Fairlight sounds.
I'm sure I have seen a vid of JMJ with a fairlight on YT.

Epic stuff and very clever use of a sampler.

Here's a bit of a behind the scenes look with Peter Gabriel (note the two CE-1 stomps on top  ):

I doubt you have to upgrade hardware. I'm still on an old Pentium 4 here. You need to have all four files together. Maybe select all and decompress, even if you have to overwrite, just to make sure?

I'm not familiar with them. Breakmixer posted a clip of them on the first page that uses Sfzan1 (13 TremStr). Love that sound!

Thanks for the tips and concern, Cosmosis. But Kontakt 4x only runs on Intel based Macs, and I own one of the last G5s in existence it seems!

But I am collecting and warehousing great software for the new system and yours certainly qualifies! Just the IDEA is exciting to an old art/prog popster like myself.

While we're on the topic of keys on every album mentioned in this thread, how about a CS-80 next?

Shout outs to ingonator and Spitfire31 for the unzip tips, everything seems to be in the part one folder now, but it still created the empty folders for the other parts all the same. 479mb unstuffed total for everything, right?

Thanks again for the chance to play a dream instrument, for what folks are willing to pay. Your karma points are through the roof! :)

Thats is amazing-What is that thing he is blowing into connected to?
Sounds brilliant.
To me it is sort of CS80ish in sounds.
The MemoryMoog pads are nice too-Another synth that would be great to own.

The Ah's sound just like the ones in Astral Projection's Mahadeva 95. But the tit-tit-tit's are very unique :hihi:

Thanks for the info! Is that the sound from the keyboard or the EWI?

Except Ethnicolor, a lot of Fairlight was used also on many many other tracks from Jarre. Here is a list where the CMI IIx was used. One of my favourites is still Zoolookologie as we're talking about Fairlight:

My newest project: Synthiox

Yamaha MM6, Novation Ultranova, Behringer FCB1010
