Don't forget you can use the wavetables/oscillators as modulators/or/LFOs too ... you just got to turn on the SUB button to get their frequency low for LFO usage, and the tune dials effectively become rate dials. Turn that Oscillators volume down in the mixer panel too (unless you also want to hear it as audio). lfos modulating lfos modulating sequencers modulating oscillators modulating lfos.... etc :)

I also like the way you hear a preview of how the connection sounds, before you release the mouse button and commit to making it.

Definitely one of the more under-rated synths out there. And they deserve high praise for their interface, I wish more people would emulate - they really have achieved interface zen.

And, for what it's worth, the included wavetables/cycles are from Galbanum, who also contributed to MASSIVE's arsenal of wavetables/cycles.

Crackbaby wrote:Just one question ... how can you assign a for instance filter envelope amount to a midi controller?
I connect an envelope to the frequency of a filter ... i click on the circle to adjust amount, but how can i control that via midi? I cant see how to control any such amounts and they're not listed under energyXT's controller map (but everything else is) and the control in the plugin itself doesnt react to it.

Any ideas?
unfortunately crack baby, that's pretty much one of the only parameters not midi/osc controllable...unless I am gravely mistaken.
(a worthy feature request, perhaps. the 1.8 beta is coming up soon, might be a good time for such suggestions but I reckon it could be a lot of work, and unlikely to see it implemented in a minor upgrade.)

Click on the 'midi learn' button to get an over view of what's controllable.
don't forget to check the bottom panel to see the KEYBOARD / SETTINGS / EFFECTS for the controllable parameters there. (they're also modulation destination/output points)

To get around your query, you could perhaps leave the modulation amount on full and midi control the envelope generator's ADSR settings.

also, be sure to check out the KEYBOARD ... as you can see it has two keyboard envelopes, which can modulate whatever. as you will see the Grey one is used for tuning by default, but you can edit it for weird tunings and also send it's signal to any parameter you wish to modulate. The blue one is extra, and doesn't have to be used for tuning (but can, if you wish) .... you can get some really crazy stuff going on with the keyboard modulators :)

sureno wrote:Save your money, its a great synth but support is shockingly poor, the 1.0.7 version (latest) is CPU hungry and crashes often, us users have been left in the dark for nearly 2 years and now there IOS app has taken priority over Circle by the looks of it, if my rant isnt enough to convince you check out the beta forum for circle yourself and pay particular attention to the dates. If the beta version is released and proves to be more stable and efficient then only then would i rely on it for any real work

I have to agree with you, as much as I like the synth and even thought recent developments would be caught up in a flurry of activity on the forum.

The development of Circle is pretty poor, it's as you sate, which in the eye's of some of it's moderate users is pretty sad, to say the least.

I'm stuck wishing Circle and or the FAW flag was taken up by another DSP firm that's obviously got the manpower to push it on to a higher status and iron out all the issues with it's, 'as you say, High CPU consumption',

Perhaps Ableton could take it on, strip it down, have a rack of Ableton effects in FX section, rebuild it an offer it as there first modular VSTI.

Bliss..

regarding CPU comsumption complaints... just give it up, or get a different synth for 'bread & butter' synthesis. Circle is a modular synth, and it's cpu usage is comparable to every other modular I use. It's the nature of the beast.

I really like the filter of it! Do you know any other vsti with a similar sounding one? Not sure how to describe the sound of it but it has a very special character in my ears which is good if your music uses a lot of sweeps. Im trying to limit myself to a few synths and only use one instance each, so anything with big personality is a big plus!
Fabfilter one, tyrell/ace (i think they sound similar, but haven't tested it blindfolded), abl2.5 also have character. Any other synth up for suggestions

I am quite taken with the sound (the demo that is as the guy i am buying it off still hasn't heard about the transfer of the license)The lure of money in terms of ther ios app is understandable. They could sell it to musos/non musos alike but to put out a great product like Circle and not provide adequate support is quite baffling.

Hi Guys,

Firstly, thanks for the praise.

We are concentrating our development resources on the iOS apps at the moment, but are working on a new update to Circle along side this when we get time. The plan is to iron out the issues with Circle, release the update and then try and let more people know about it. Its something that we hear alot, that Circle is not known or underrated. We will also try better to answer support mails more promptly.

An interesting story, myself and the other developer who worked on Circle, Pierre, were in the car one day listening to the radio and David Guetta's hit "Sexy Girl" came on. I said to Pierre that the bass line and synths sounded really like Circle. A few weeks later we got a mail from his producer saying that he used Circle on the track. For us, this was a great validation of our work, that the synth was used on an international hit record. So Circle can deliver the goods!

Anyway, I'm here to answer any question you have....

Gavin.

There's your sale.

You won't, nor should you, get it new for cheaper than that.

Hi guys,

Yes, we are looking at doing a sale. I think with the current iOS store, people are starting to question the high price of desktop software. This is something we are looking at.

On the support case, this has been answered.
