I think I found the bug.
I using AU 32bit version latest Vers. ValhallaRoom on Logic 9.1.4 under OSX 10.6.8 up to date.
When saved in the Logic arrangement after recalling, it plays the preset different. (all parameters looks the same but it is not the same preset anymore) This happens only on algorithm Dark Space.

gotchavalhallasound wrote:The GUI in ValhallaRoom, other than the large "VALHALLA ROOM" graphic on the top, is all "procedural," in that I am using graphics primitives in Juce to draw everything, without resorting to fixed images or filmstrip images. So things can be redrawn on the fly. Not saying that this is the best way of doing a GUI, but it makes resizing easier, as opposed to having a fixed image for the background that would look blurry when resized. The VALHALLA ROOM text is a PNG, but it looks fine when resized, probably because it starts out pretty big.ebow wrote:love the resizing, especially it continuous nature...wish all developers would follow
The next plugin is 100% procedural - just text and graphics primitives. It looks a bit cleaner to my eyes than ValhallaRoom when resized, but I think this is due to targeting the original scale to a smaller size than ValhallaRoom, such that the fonts are proportionally bigger in the GUI. The resizing thing was a fairly recent development.

I just did some tests, and found that the predelay is being calculated incorrectly when switching from the "bright" modes to the dark modes. That is probably a separate but related bug to what you found.xtrax wrote:I think I found the bug.

My guess is that the plugin is not calculating the internal sampling rate correctly for the delay lengths in Dark Space when recalling the plugin state. This would result in a sparser initial echo density, as the delay lengths would be twice as long. I will look into this issue, and make sure that it is resolved for the upcoming ValhallaRoom update.

Yes, I think it is correct. Attack time becomes very slow just like you described. Thanks.valhallasound wrote:I just did some tests, and found that the predelay is being calculated incorrectly when switching from the "bright" modes to the dark modes. Thanks for these! There will be a "Den" folder in the upcoming installer.xtrax wrote: http://www.gearslutz.com/board/6924429-post1085.html
V1.0.8 will be sonically identical to 1.0.7, except for a few bug fixes (Dark Space issues + predelay for Dark modes). The big change will be the resizable GUI. I hope to have installers out for testing tomorrow.

Tested the demo and think i know what all the "fuss" is about.
Great plugin!
Is there any way to lock the mix percentage to a certain value which will be kept whilst going through the presets? If not, could you add one?

Purchased. Started using it on my snare and toms instead of using Reverences IR files. Great and flexible. Sounds awesome.

Well, my upcoming plugin doesn't emulate any particular vintage chorus stompboxes - although dialing in Roland Dimension sounds will be trivial. I haven't gone to any efforts to emulate BBD lines, other than having a bright/dark switch that does the same downsampling filtering tricks that the Dark modes do in ValhallaRoom.jonahs wrote:Hey, I need to buy a need a new Electro Harmonix Stereo Polychorus, should I wait?
The chorus algorithms are not influenced by any EHX or Boss single-delay choruses. I am much more influenced by the various string ensemble choruses, the Lexicon multitap choruses, and how the VP-330 took the DimD chorus and extended it. I'm doing something similar, but extending it to ridiculous extents: modulation that can get overly deep (to achieve pitch change and reverse effects), delays up to a few seconds, up to 32 taps that can be spread over the entire delay range, control over the stereo width that takes the particular EQ of the Dimension D and makes it fully parametric, emulation of the "supersaw" and unison effects, stuff like that.
Also, I could never argue against buying an Electro Harmonix box. I love my Big Muffs and my microPOG.
But if you are looking for deep chorusing, and can wait a few weeks, then hold tight.

Update on the ValhallaRoom resizable GUI: I ran into various compiler issues this week. The most annoying one was finding out that Xcode 3.2.6 no longer generates univeral binaries, so my plugins wouldn't work on PPC. I figured out where to get the XCode 3.2.4 installer, and put that on the new machine, so that problem seems to be solved - but that was last night. In addition, something changed in the latest Juce code base, which required me to spend a solid day messing around with compiler settings to see why things were crashing. So the schedule has slipped.
I will send out links to beta testers later tonight or sometime tomorrow.

Wow, I just quoted Sean Costello only to find out that the quote is rated as SPAM ALERT! by the KvR auto pilot. Ho many posts do I need to be able to quote somebody?

Anyway (I hope that this posting is "allowed"):
Sean, I wanted to say that I like the way you advertize using all the cool buzz words without sounding cheezie. I'm very interested in your upcoming machine.
Cheers!

Very exciting about the chorus, Sean. I'm looking forward to it.
I just tried out VR on a master track last night and it worked out really well. A very light setting with the Dark Room algorithm added a great subtle sense of depth and even a little bit of analog-y grit. VR and the Roundtone tape emulator seemed to really compliment each other in that setting.
Hey, there's a future plug idea for you, a tape emulator or even better a general/multi-mode saturator.
