andy_cytomic wrote:Thanks! Sorry it's not in a musical context, this is just me twiddling knobs to put it through its paces to give people an idea of what it sounds like when pushed.

PS: the sawlike input signal is actually another copy of The Drop outputting its lfo as audio.
What do you mean????

Have you heard what the kids are listening to and calling 'music' these days??

:hihi: :hihi:

Sounds great mate. I love my UAD-Moog filter which while relatively basic (no real envelope control etc), it has the all important sound quality but it also 'feels right' when tweaked via a real knob (automap) if that makes sense. The only other software filter I've used that did that aswell, was the Moog filter on the Creamware Minimax which strangely was one of the first I used and it was released years ago. I hoped for the filter market to be pretty much sewn up by now but I've only found the UAD filter to be comparable imo. I'm pretty excited by the Drops announcement as the extra filter types & control your planning along with your reputation of quality I've heard from your Glue customers, has given me an unusual sense of anticipation ;)

Before people start accusing me of favouring 'the expensive option of a DSP version' (and it's KVR were talking on!!! :D ), I'll add that with money-off vouchers given to customers by UA & their frequent sales, I paid £34 for the plugin. I paid more for my other options including £149 for Waldorfs D-Pole plugin!!!!! :help:

So, errr, basically better than the UA Moog & less than £30, I'm in

Seriously, I hope this is going to be amazing, fingers crossed.
No, that Glitch is meant to be there.....

Very nice sounding demo!

So it's really a modular synth then, yeah? Assuming our CPUs can load enough copies.

I think the Ebbe und Flut is the most pleasant filter I've heard. Have you done any research into it?

Post

Thanks! I love both the sound of the Ebbe und Flutt, and how it responds to modulation and auto triggers, but the schematic is not in the public domain, so I will not be doing a model of it. Once I've done The Drop and established more of a reputation the door will be open to do officially sanctioned filter models.

osc generator? is this gonna turn into a complete synth?? (let'say a 2osc synth at least?) then i'd be very very very interested in it!!
i'm desperate for 0 filter feedback lag code to be included within a synth.
also glad to hear lfos will be able go into audio range (like most analog ones).

From what I have heard of the UAD Moog filter they have done a good job, and I also like the additions they made for modern production, but they have still kept it easy to use and similar to the MF-101.

The prices I offer are always as low as possible, that way everyone benefits.

Bang for buck The Drop will pack a mean punch, but I will not be selling it for under £30. I will most likely be charging USD 99 like with The Glue, but this hasn't been finalised yet. I will be offering a significant discount to existing customers.

I'm very happy with the audio quality so far, and although it isn't "cheap" cpu wise, I am happy with the cpu usage for the complexity of modelling that is going on under the hood. Even without oversampling these filters sound fantastic. With the ability to also oversample on render you can lower aliasing for even the most extreme modulation without having to think about it, so your final audio will be immaculately filthy.

Yes that's right! With the external sidechain input you will be able to modulate the cutoff frequency of both filters, as well as the rate of the lfos, so in that sense it is like a modular synth filter and lfo module in one. I need to tread carefully to hit the right balance between "filter with lfos" vs "monophonic synth", since I want it to be the former not the latter.

There will be modulation oscillators that handle both low and high frequency operation. The Drop will not be a synth in the traditional sense, and will lack features that you would expect from a synth, it will be a stereo filter plugin with powerful lfos! I will do a synth at some stage in the future.

Would I be able to skip filters and use it just as distortion/saturation plugin?

There will be ways to get some drive without filtering, but I'm not sure at this stage what they will be. My main aim of the filter is to provide transparent audio when the filter is swept out of band, which is the exact opposite of your request!

Uh... I see! It's just that I really want your plugin with drive. I actually began to use peakclip in Glue a lot, because it is controlled and oversampling works great, but there's a need in something softer.
You're one of a few developers doing such stuff right. Hell, if there'd be a way to clone you and make each clone do it's own project, lol=)

This is highly recommended to provide transparent audio when the filter is swept out of the band. This is the mistake of some other filters. They must always be bypassed per automation when used for filter-fades (I remember to the Sonalksis filter).
Cannot wait for the first Beta (if you need some testers for Win 7 64Bit, Cubase 6 32Bit :P)

Can we (glue owners) know more about this?
thank you Andy!

When The Drop is ready I'll email everyone that owns The Glue with a discount code for it, which they can use yourself of give to someone else if you want :)
