I now get my Reaper in a handy refill pack.
Good on the music AND the economy.
My other host is Bruce Forsyth

I tend to agree with you. (Orion, FL Studio, Energy XT and more, here). My issue is with short cuts, I'd like to be able to have the same functions tied to the same keys.

I'd have yet to a DAW that makes good use of FL Studio like interface. All DAWs copy the "per tracks" interface that annoys me a lot.

Still, the only thing that annoys me from FL is that i cant select multiple mixer channels (say, select all instruments and re route them to a sub mix, and select al drums, and re route them to another sub mix), nor hide them like i would do with instrument/sampler channels. The thing is that i couldnt live without the step sequencer or the various manipulation tools of the sampler (in and out knobs with normalize, reverse and swap stereo are mighty usefull, not counting the "legacy effects" that are a fine way of beign simple and creative) and an aditional VST acting as one isnt my thing.

UIs arent the fastest moving thing in this industry (exept for whole new products) it seems so i might need to wait a while for something a lil bit more dynamic...

Still, FL is relatively cheap and more than enough for me.

Edit: Wrong Thread

You can already control Reaper via WWW/http. I suppose this is neat if you have an iPhone or other web device and want to trigger things....from the other side of the planet.

Is Reaper the first DAW with a web server for it?

After trying REAPER, I still don't "get" the REAPER craze, but I've accepted that I'll never "get" it.

But, given its popularity in this poll, I'll like to see a related poll with honest results:

How much did you pay for REAPER:
( ) Commercial ($225)
( ) Non Commercial ($60)
( ) $0

You could ask the same question with every host on the list.

How much did you pay for Cubase:
( ) Full version ($900)
( ) Artist version ($450)
( ) Try-before you buy ($0)

Except that all versions of Reaper are the same, and all legal, and Cubase doesn't cost that much, in USD, anyway. ;)

Reaper is fine, but I didn't like it's sequencing. Individual parts should not scroll, the whole track should (up and down the keyboard), nor should it zoom in and out uncontrollably like that as you scroll (for me at least).

Otherwise it seemed like a solid program that I'm sure I would have been fine with moving from ACID Pro 7. :)

BTW, I paid the $40 at the time. ;)
