Here are my votes:

4 pt: V'Ger - V2
3 pt: bzur - 12/16 thing
2 pt: Yeager - Sour Crowd
1 pt: evo2slo - Mad Without Power

Post

5 pts: Tattiemanie - Say that again
Don't know if it was your intention but this song had me laughing from the start. It almost got the 5 pts right there, but then suddenly at around 1:15, it sounds really nice.It came from nowhere though , which isn't exactly a good thing, but both parts are my favorite parts of all the songs, so there you go.

4 pts: evo2slo - Mad without power.
Thumbs up for making that speech thing work. I didn't give pts because of it though. It would be a bit unfair in my opinion. Anyways, this song is the one that sounded the better as a whole. They were no letdown.

3 pts : McPanic - Spaziergang.
The first 45 seconds or so were excellent.

2 pts: bzur - 12/16 thing .
great melody. It would benefit from 1 or 2 other melodies to support it i think.

1 pts: IrionDaronin - A Cyborg's dream .
Beautiful soundscapes .

Numerologia - Massacre at the Moon .
I won't give you pts, but it sounds very unique. I like that

And another great bunch to choose from :).
All tracks had something I liked, but for me it boiled down to these 5 :

IrionDaRonin - A Cyborgs Dream : 5 points
Tattiemannie - Say That Again : 4 points
evo2slo - Mad Without Power : 3 points
bzur - 12/16 : 2 points
McPanic - Spaziergang : 1 point

What some of you did with that speechthingy was amazing :).

Good luck, and thank you all.

I know V2 caused some trouble, but the sound is undeniably good as was the range. How often in OSC can u hear really good pads for example? It's imo a measure of a synth that it can make any type of sound well and here it went from good drums, bass, pluck and pads. Very rare. Cpu usage was also awesome.

Anyway, to voting. A lot of nice tracks with sounds i like obviously.

5 pts: Yeager - Sour Crowd
Nice sounds, changing and interesting parts and as usual good production. The middle part grooving was .. well .. very groovy, but I liked the whole thing really. I'm however slightly worried about the song naming tendency lately. Force of Habit, now Sour Crowd. What's next? FU? :D

4 pts: IrionDaRonin - A Cyborg's Dream
This is the type of thing i like, reminds of Totolitoto and Shroom Feverish's stuff from OSC 12: Rogue. Top V2 sounds well put together for a complete track to dig.

3 pts: McPanic - Spaziergang
My personal favorite tune this time, absolutely love the second half. This seriously has hit potential, at least for the 90's. ;) I would like to do a remix of this. I don't mind the repetitiveness of it at all, but that and the first half prevent top score.

2 pts: Bzur - 12-16 thing
Nice catchy lines, good sounds and details.

1 pt: Stonail - Doomed By Lady Salvia
Another minimalistic jazzy tour de force here. Loves it.

Slightly OT but your speech in the intro Tattie reminds me of the PA of an Aeroflot flight i took once. :D My friend and i thought it was a 'Welcome to Moscow and thank u for flying with us' kind-of-thing and left the plane, only to have the straight out of 60's James Bond film russian woman (u know the one with the 'i'll kill u' look complete with crazy makeup and hairdo) at the immigration desk after shouting for ppasssppoorrrt!!!, suspiciously eye us and then reach for the phone.. To our horror two burly police (also caricature types) show up and take us away, but luckily just back to the plane as we had got off at the wrong place completely, I still have no idea where it was other than it was snowy, it could have been in the middle of Siberia for all we know..

Thanks for the comment (even more than the points)
I'm always wondering if you wait for the last day to listen all tracks or since when you were listening tracks?

And this question goes for all contesters. I would like to make a poll to know you all better about OSC.

I usually start listening tracks when you all upload your entries. Upload to my MP3 player (the cellphone lol) and listening while walking, at home, or going to job.

Have a good day :)

I was hoping to come across as more sincere voter than that, but it's true i'm usually late with the votes but that's because of difficulty in ranking.

In fact by the time my votes are written I have listen to all tracks several times (around 5 plays minimum), the top 5 tracks at least 10 times. (This time more likely 15). I download to my phone the first day of voting and listen here and there. Last days I listen in the studio using Foobar where I can move tracks in order and compare directly.

Can someone change their vote after turning it in?

I must comment before I get going, that this is up there among the best collections I have long given up searching for words to describe, but what really stands out is the work which has gone into the majority of them ... This time round, my best missing words are in favour of the artists ... what can I say?
Obviously nothing I've attributed to any comp/collection that has come before ... the work and attention invested in this collection is incredible ... and therefore I thank each and everyone who has contributed.
It has been a privilege to be a part of it, and I am awestruck that OSC is so valued that you guys fell it appropriate to put so much of yourselves into it.

V-2 ..... Nice intense track, brisk snare, great airy sounds. A bit short, and had scope to take a diversion, but solid, well constructed track, strong events which demand attention and respect!

Doomed ..... Cool build up, stacked with suspense, good percs and excellent use of spacial fx. lots of room to hear that deep creeping bass, nice changes and good range of crisp, quality sounds.

Massacre .... Love the intro sound which resembles a dusty piece of vinyl. Excellent use of the speech function. Very interesting sounds altogether and a very atmospheric and unique track. Love the bats! :)

Crowd .... OK, I'm listening blind, but I can tell this is Yeager ... and Yeager on form!! I will delete this if I'm wrong of course, but right now I would put money on it. No, it's def Yeager because I'm finding it hard to comment on any single aspect ... the whole track is brilliantly done, the sounds play as a team, and beautifully. Boxes ticked! I can tell Yeager loves this synth and it loves him back .. nuff said!

Agnostic .... Interesting opening and I'm hooked from the off! Gorgeous piece of music, fantastic composition. As many will know, composition doesn't break the deal with my criteria, but the beautiful, evolving, oozing sounds have my attention, and plead for my votes.

Don't Panic .... Super speech in the intro, then things get a little crazy :) .... Not long back from Berlin, so quite topical as well ... this is such a fun track, and cool in terms of quality as well. Only downside is the variety of sounds, but those used did a grand job ... love it!

Spaziergang .... Some Real 'ooomph' in this one, although it promises slightly more. Great sounds, but I find the percs a bit lacking in attack. Well constructed nonetheless and pleasant.

Chase .... Started off quite sot of predictable until that growly bass told me otherwise and shook my expectations.... and then?? Whooo! for a minute I thought the engineer had gone for a piss and Mr blitz had sneaked in. :HiHi: Love the drop outs .... very entertaining ... Great sounds, perhaps too few though, but love it all the same ... different!
In 12/16 .... This screams quality from the off! Excellent sounds/dynamics/changes/use of space/percs ... fantastic track, ticks all the boxes twice for me... great work! No details required, this one speaks for itself!

Braindead .... Intro raises a smile as well as anticipatation. I hang with it, lovely metallic sounds, but I really want this to open up wide ... then the great almost dischordant stabs ... Ok, officially excited now!! Eyes wide, head nodding ... and ... errr ... well, fkn great track. Lets just say the need for it to explode is my need and no-one elses ... Cracking bass! :tu:
Orion .... Quality track, simplicity and complexity shake hands and get on with the job. Great use of space, great sounds, and excellent dynamics and tension. these sounds are rich as hell ... great advert for the synth's capabilities ... nuff said.

HyUWmAEnz ..... OK, as I said, I'm doing this blind, but have seen the list previously, so I can hear 'destroy humans' ... this is bloody hilarious! ... and no bad thing. Unique for sure, certainly conjures up images. Falls down on lack of individual sounds, but would love to stick this on at a party just to witness the reaction. I love it as I love all things weird ... but thumbs up also for the variation within a tight compositional form.

Cyborg .... Love the speech through plastic pipe sound at the beginning... and the 'open out' is cool .. good economic use of bass, allowing the track to breathe. Great interesting, engaging sounds in places, and excellent use of space .. including the ability to fill it! The metallic percussion is superb!

Sommerausch .... This one is nuts! Nice set of nasal sounds balanced and backed by a pretty realistic 'band' some wacky stereo tricks ... which I like! Kinda makes me want to go on youtube and listen to a couple of Tiger Lillies tracks :)

Power .... Great bass ... would have been quite happy to hear it do the track on it's own, and wondered if it left a lot of space for anything else .. but hey!!! ... A whole bunch of well mixed quality sounds jumped in and told it a thing or two about perspective! Great mix all round ... everything in its place despite the assertivenes of that dirty bastard bass, and all worthy of said place ... good work!

Colourdrunken .... Great percs, but suspect headroom compromised by the level of that 'shaker'. Lots of potential there, But unless you are dancing to this one, it def needs some sort of break out/diversion .. having said that, I'm dancing ... albeit in my comfy 'puter chair, and it feels good! :)

Lastly ..... To comment, not on my own track, but in response to comments about my own track .... you are all correct :)
evo2slo ... yeah, I was pretty well pleased with the drum sounds, and yeah it did get a bit messy.
Ruedirena ... Yeah, I didn't use the actual speech synth ... wish I had now having heard what others did with it, and yeah it was a fkn nightmare getting those beautifully horrible sounds to behave :) ... and also yeah, the composition was a little conventional by my standards ... I hoped the horrible 'vocs' would balance things ha ha!! :hihi:
gorgorgathgorgorgor ... you are spot on! ....you seem to know what I was attempting to achieve ... including the pain! :)
Slyfly ... Thank you especially ... I rarely take my music seriously ... except when I'm onstage live and the paying public expect a certain level of decorum and professionality ... doing stuff to share and for free is very liberating and fun. Glad you found it funny .. my teenage kids were cackling and described the intro as 'somebody throwing up into a tin pail' :) .. Laughter is good! I enjoyed theirs, and I enjoyed knowing of yours! :) The change was a deliberate attempt get out of that hell-hole ... so I'm glad you liked it ... even if you were not so sure at the time :) .... however, I do think that by giving me the 5 points, grateful though I am ... you are seriously deluded and should be banned from voting until you can prove otherwise :)
Yeager ... see above re. delusion :) ... cheers for the points, we go back a long way in OSC and all that, but .... 4 points??? ... no, seriously cheers, I know you well enough to understand how/why you may well have liked it.... :hihi:
Thanks very much for the feedback and the votes, and cheers for all the comments and votes from all to everyone. :) ... But now the moment of truth ... My votes ... and this was one tricky beast of a comp. Some wonderful sounds, soundscapes, and some seriously imaginitive and thought provoking/image evoking pieces. But I can only vote for 5, so here goes....

I picked out 8, and from comments above, I hope the three I dont mention know who they are, and I really wanted to do 4 sets of votes by different criteria .. ie *mix and production quality which would have been very tight ... hence not many comments above re this,
*variation and quality of sounds,
*imagination and uniqueness
*adventure and barrier challenging

However, I hope this I have done enough in my comments, so here is my single set of votes

bzur - In 12/16 .... 5 .... just bloody good in all dimensions!

IrionDaRonin - Orion .... 4 .... As above, marginally more enjoyable actually, but then again, marginally less awesome

Yeager - Sour Crowd .... 3 ... disclaimer ... not because we go a long way back, not because your delusion gained me points :) ...and not because I share your delusion.... and not because I generally love your stuff, but because you really excelled yourself this time round!

evo2slo - Mad Without Power .... 2 ....for that bass I would never have dared to use ... let alone hope it would have dared to have a track built around it which would have not asked it to shut up!

Stonail - Doomed by Lady Salvia .... 1 .... Simplicity, subtlety, quality, dynamics, depth, range, beautiful track in a tough field ... hence only 1 point which i wish could have been more.

PS, whilst editing ... Mods, what is so wrong about using an abundance of smileys in a post which is fairly substantial, and appropriately substantial for the the quality and quantity I am writing about ... and one which has given me so much pleasure that I want to convey how much, and at waht I am compelled to smile?????

Yes sure unless it's in my disfavour.. ;)

Best is to make it clear in the post about the edit or better a separate post about it so it will get noticed.

Nice reviews Tattie.
It seems you really like to make great reviews about tracks, so thanks for your time :)

And for those votes.

Have a good day, i go to bed.

Cheers ... if you feel I get pleasure from doing reviews, it's all down to the pleasure I get from the material ... I have reviewed for fanzines and online communities, and I can tell you for sure and provide examples if you like, if I dont like what I hear, I dont hold back, and can be a right bastard :hihi:

... in that context, you can all take heart in that if you feel my reviews are indifferent, then you are doing OK :hihi:
