I really doubt that. As far as I know the patches were created for Roland while Eric Persing was employed by them. There are exceptions but employees do not usually own the rights to the things that they are paid to create by their employer.

The samples on the D50 aren't what makes it sounds good though...

It's the "VA" engine, chorus and converters :hihi:

People seem to have this miscnception that the D50 was primarily a Rompler, it isn't. It was probably the first VA ever made, with PWM on pulse and sawtooth waves and all

(off topic) yeah, a PS-3100/3300 VSTi addition to Legacy would have been very nice.

Not me, I love my D-50's synth abilities! I've got to admit though, those old school waveforms do add to the charm. It just wouldn't be the same without them ("Digital Native Dance" FTW).

I'd take one :) ...makes we want to go look on Ebay and see how much they go for these days.

Best synth preset ever made :D

If they don't want to do it themselves why not license the samples to some other developer and earn a bundle while they're at it. A stand alone vst or a Kontakt instrument would sell well. The 31,000 views mentioned before proof that this synth is NOT gonna be forgotten any time soon.
In my opinion, partially there's a certain "mythology" surrounding the D-50. Perhaps there's interest because people who actually played it in the 80's, have fond memories of it...or because there's an interest in everything retro (and that's what it is). Then there are the famous recordings, like MJ's "Bad", that utilized it.

A few of the sounds HAVE appeared in various forms, though:

There was a really good Reason ReFill called 'Deepflight'.

Puremagnetik has a Kontakt instrument called the 'P-50 Linear', which has about 30 patches. They even mention "Roland D-50" (which, along with the sounds, I'm sure, is a trademark?) when they talk about it.

There's also about 10 D-50 sounds in zero-g's 'Nostalgia' Kontakt package.

If you really mean it, don't forget the D-550 module - a D-50 without keyboard. I've got both (D-50/D-550) for many years now and still want to keep them.

Man, this topic is ancient! It would be quiet easy to make a D50 style vsti. All you need is a few layers of sampled attack transients layered with standard sustaining oscillator waveforms. That and a function to scan through the sample memory.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Yes but no $$ for it, would love one though.

When I was taking a course for music engineering/music theory back in the 80's, the college I was at had a D-50 and bunch other rackmounted stuff. If I remember right, there was an Akai 12-bit sampler in that rackmount section (I think it was this one) http://www.vintagesynth.com/akai/s900.php
and a MT-32 and lots of others.

If its so easythen why theres nothing in vsti that comes close ? even m1 in its vsti form sounds kinda weak and digital.Im afraid roland would sound the same, very digital and flat.

Wow I had a 1040 ST...and an MT32....Lot's of other hardware gear as well (Still have my ESQ-1, U-220 and R-5)..........I always wanted a D-50 and have eyed a few used ones over the years. I'd like to have a D50 vsti for nostalgia if for nothing else........ :)

Of course the originals were digital....The M-1 vsti sounds fine here......not at all weak coming out of the 12" mains and 8" rears.....

Hey Tek, that's cool :)
I had a 520ST-FM for years (I upgraded it to 1 meg of Ram) and
Master Tracks Pro, plus at different points in time: a CZ-101, a DX-21, a D-4 drum module, and my brother let me use his D-110 module too.

I never could afford a D-50 back then though.

Anyway, I would love some of that past in vst form. I still have to get the M1 and a couple of the other vsts by Korg.
