I had it working yesterday night with Reaper and the track names showed up in AC7-Core.
I followed the setup instruction but the first time AC7 didn't synchronize and nothing worked.
Second time was OK...

Regarding AC7, I have the feeling that i have to tap above the buttons on the IPAD to have them respond correctly ?
Is it just me ?

I haven't had to tap any buttons above the graphic.
Meh.

getting the same lag with feedback as with DSmidi.

move a fader in logic or hit a button with at least a 1sec delay.. doesnt do it with OSC so I can only assume this is a limitation with CodeMidi. awaiting a response from dev,

One thing that you really should make sure is that not too many other applications use the network at the same time. For example: If you have
your Mail-Client configured to automatically retrieve Emails, it will
do so also in the background. If there are large mails or large attachments,
this might interfere with the transmission of MIDI over the WiFi-network.

I would also make sure that you close all applications in the multi-tasking-
bar that you don't really need. If there is something that needs large
amount of cpu-power or does things over the network, it might interfere
as well.

Then of course you can take a look in the configuration of the network-MIDI
on the Mac (or on the Windows) side. In the participant-list on the right
hand side of the config, you will see a value for the latency on this
connection. If this is getting too high (either because the network
connection is bad, or there is too much other traffic on the same
network-link), the connection will not work really well for this kind
of realtime-processing...

Best regards,
Tobias

I dont get any lag with touchOSC

I'd see what the developer says, I get no lag but I've set up an ad-hoc wireless network specifically for apps like this, and the iPad is the only thing on WiFi (the DAW machine is wired in directly) with absolutely no WAN overhead or any other network traffic whatsoever so that could explain the low latency/lack of lag.

Well I don't know if I botched my installation but my iPad doesn't show up at all that midi application. I'm on Windows 7 but I also tried it on my Hackintosh and it doesn't pick it up in that as well.
I might know what's wrong. Since you updated to 4.2, it's likely AC-7 went into your multitasking dock, which prevents it from connecting to rtpMidi for some reason. Remove it from multitasking and try to connect, this worked for me.

Only problem I have now are no graphics/lights for the volume, no track names and the sliders don't update on the iPad. Only tested with Studio One, I'll try Cubase tomorrow and see how that goes.

This was exactly the problem I had. The developer sorted me out (the developer support for this product is excellent, by the way). Now it's working great with all features working okay in Windows (except for the bar/smpte counter not working with Samplitude but they are looking into it).

I'm not sure what the problem is with your Studio One - it works great here. It might be worth trying to set up your controller again in S1.

Glad you got it working. Did the developer say anything about how to go about keeping AC-7 out of the multitasking dock? I have to remove it from there every time I want to start a new session.

Anyway, I got it working with Studio One now, everything works except the track volume lights..no matter what I try, I can't seem to get it to show them.

Good to hear the support is excellent. Time to send the dev an email I think.

No he didn't. I suppose we need to close it every time before opening it again.

Let me know what he says about the level meters. To be honest, I haven't tried those (just tried it on empty tracks) so I'm not sure it works. I'll give it a go tonight.

Wow, support is very good and quick.

Apparently Studio One doesn't output any track meter info yet, so I guess this is up to Presonus and not a problem with AC-7 itself.

Pity, but at least the most important things seem to be working ok, including track names :)

Wow, glad I haven't tried to use my Mackie Control Universal with Studio One then!

So, how does one upgrade from AC-7 Pro then? I sent the developer an email the moment the OSC support came out for Logic 9 but never got a response. I'm not a big fan of having to faff about with other applications running to make things like this work. Also, I thought the graphics were not as good as they could have been, or looked on youtube etc. I bought touch OSC and it worked straight off, over my wifi connection without a hitch, without any latency whatsoever. I sold my Mackie MCU to fund the ipad and found AC-7 Pro a big disappointment. OSC Touch on the other hand, a very different story. A bit 'Tron' looking but I like that :)

I believe the low price of AC-7 Core currently on the app store is just for that reason, for Pro users who wish to upgrade..not postive, but I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere.

I never tried the Pro version, but from what I've read Core is much less hassle, due to only needing to run a single (free) app, for the midi/wifi stuff.

TouchOSC is great though, no doubt. I'm probably even going to start building a Studio One template for this shortly.

I actually saw this tool for iToyz (er... I mean iPad) for the first time today. And out of the gimmicks and add-ons, or apps or whatever you want to call it, it's the most interesting one indeed.

Granted, you can get a "Mackie Control"/Generic Remote for like 130bucks street from Behringer (the Behringer Control Range), but it is by far not usable through WiFi and it also lacks the channel tagging.

If I had an iPad, I'd spend the 8-or-so bucks to get this thing running. Sure won't make my BCF2000 jobless (I just like to "touch" faders, not a touchpad), but you'll never know when you might need it.

Just one Q to the former "Pro" users. Pro seems not to be able anymore, but there's Lite, Core and XT. I take it that the CORE version is the old Pro Version now?

And the layout also changed. Did that actually cut some form of usability? And does it really respond that iffy? I've seen many videos on Youtube where the users touch exactly on the fader, but it lags behind or jumps around.

Or would you rather recommend the more expensive V-Control for the iPad?
