I'd recommend waiting for the Apogee Mic to come out. If it's anything like the Jam, it'll be vastly superior to the iRig Mic.

The iRig Mic also allows you to charge your device as you use it. The competitors versions do not.

good to know. now i realize the iRig mic isn't very portable as well, so i think i will have to pick one portable mic and one studio one.

How small do you want it? It's basically the size of a deck of cards, from what I understand. The iRig Mic is a normal dynamic-sized mic, like an SM58.

well not horribly small, but also a little discrete. it looked like the size of a studio condenser. well forgetting size here, i'm wondering how compatible all these mics are with different apps, and video ones.

The fostex ar4-i does look interesting.

This video is ridiculously corny but concerningly entertainig:

It's also worth asking which device you have. THe Mikey doesn't work on iPad /iPhone 4 I believe.
Frequency Ear Training iOS App - Quiztones v1.5 just released!

Yes that video is hilarious! I have a 3GS

The iRig mic isn't very big at all like already stated. We've actually had a lot of journalists, radio DJ's and interviewers that use it on the go all the time.

Has anyone had any experience with the MicW I436?

Seems to be really small...

Best regards,

No but I don't trust the advertising. While the mic may very well do 20-20k, it uses the mic input on the headset jack which is known to have steep roll off under 100 Hz. Check here and here out.

The frequency response of iRig Mic is 100Hz to 15kHz, -3dB.
