@1936 That is a good point being a stereo/mono closed back affair. Still no reason i could not open the back up with the power of tools in full on Nekro Butcher mode
or yeah pickup a naked empty shell is also a very good call my friend

Spare the Semtex for the kids and get an empty open back cab, the 1936 really is a nice 412 wannabe with its closed back.Dean Aka Nekro wrote:@1936 That is a good point being a stereo/mono closed back affair. Good to hear you like them, Barry !trimph1 wrote:That sounds like an intriquing combi right there...
Well, after tweaking the speakers a bit more I'm finding that these things have a lot more to offer sound wise. They have a lot of low end grunt but still have a fair amount of mids to them, which I find is where I like them to be in my case...
Now all I need to do is to sit with them and do some real playing with them..then get some Tolex onto the case...
They will get even better after a few weeks of playing.
Have fun,

This video is accurate to my experience with the Plextortion.Dean Aka Nekro wrote:Hmm I am thinking/hearing that the Aces High pedal has been equalized by Brian for that Marshall Crunch:
Play one first. Personally, I think it's a step down from the amps you already have. The JVM that is on the list has many voices via the modes.

I wish you were here, I'd send you my Key Lime Compressor to try out.susiwong wrote:My tech friend came over with my new Forest Green Clone, we tried with the 6100's clean channel, comparing to his (handwired) original - spot on, as expected !![]()
Agreed. It irks me that so many people rate it like they do. I personally found it to be a disappointment. That said, Wampler pedals all have really great feel, much better than the Box of Rock and most other pedals. But then we plugged his Box Of Rocks into the clean channel, compared to Ch2 in 2203 mode, I played first. After a bit of tweaking he said "really close", I said "nope", handed him the guitar (he's a much better player than me) and watchd his jaw drop ...![]()
Yes, agreed. The Kemper Amp Profiler has it all, it's super dynamic and responds even better than a lot of real tube amps. It absolutely destroys the AxeFX.it also explains the vastly different views about ampsims to a degree.
Nice to know! It's already on my list, now I'll just have to move it up.But to finish up with some GAS - last in line was his Plimsoul - and that one is.

Strange, I always thought these were the reverse.Dean Aka Nekro wrote:Private Jack > Greenback

Very cool! I've always wanted to try the Tonker Lite.Tonker > Fane/HiWatt sort of teritory
I can get good deals on the Cannabis Rex, Texas Heat, Commonwealth, Red, White, and Blues, Copperhead, and Ragin' Cajun. What are these comparable to?

Not sure and that Eminence - Celestion list was given/sent to me so please do not take it as gospel as i can not confirm at all EricUncle E wrote:Strange, I always thought these were the reverse.Dean Aka Nekro wrote:Private Jack > Greenback

Re: JVM - Well here is the issue, I like around 3 of the modes over the many channels so i would have alot of wasted stuff on that amp and i got offered one cheap but passed. I know it rather well but some of the voices/modes are just not my thing. It tries to cover too much ground Mesa style but not in the same league and not well thought out really i concluded. It only stays on the list becasue it is the list
Nice one and all the best

I was just thinking about you Dean, I was wondering if you might have caused the rift that shook the east coast (maybe like a harmonic resonance from you and Hink inadvertently testing amps at the same time.....)

Agreed. The Marshall 30th Anniversary that susiwong recommended to me is much better than the JVM but it's not great on the really high gain stuff.Dean Aka Nekro wrote:Re: JVM - Well here is the issue, I like around 3 of the modes over the many channels so i would have alot of wasted stuff on that amp and i got offered one cheap but passed. As far as a super versatile Mesa-type amp goes, Rivera owns:

Absolutely true. It shines up to 2203 territory, channels 2C and 3 are very usable but not on the same level as the rest.Uncle E wrote:The Marshall 30th Anniversary that susiwong recommended to me is much better than the JVM but it's not great on the really high gain stuff.
Don't take my word for it, but I could imagine Dean would get monstrous "east coast shaking" metal tones out of it nevertheless by boosting 2B with an OD, what works with a 2203 should be possible here just fine.

Not guilty AFAIK but whilst hink don't tune as low as i do he does some open tunings so could be the culprithibidy wrote:I was just thinking about you Dean, I was wondering if you might have caused the rift that shook the east coast (maybe like a harmonic resonance from you and Hink inadvertently testing amps at the same time.....)
Eric, All i can find is this which is not very conclusive on the Eminence - Celestion speaker comparisons:

And a ton of youtube 'shootouts' So
Cheers guys
Dean
Edit: Please don't torture me with Rivera links (I do appreciate it anyway) as i have alot of love for some of them and Paul alround, Love the switching even on the Clubster Royale 40 Head its top notch and does clean to high gain not a problem even though it does not look like a high-gain amp. It goes for under £1000 over here so that would be my 'entry' into Rivera but im really on a tight budget for a while

I tune down as low as a D on my lowest...but the sledge hammer (my baritone) can and has gone an octave lower than standardDean Aka Nekro wrote:Not guilty AFAIK but whilst hink don't tune as low as i do he does some open tunings so could be the culprithibidy wrote:I was just thinking about you Dean, I was wondering if you might have caused the rift that shook the east coast (maybe like a harmonic resonance from you and Hink inadvertently testing amps at the same time.....)

I gave it that name because it weighs a ton
