Anyone heard anything more about these PRS SE Range of amps?
http://www.gearwire.com/prs-guitars-prs ... -line.html

Intresting move

Nice one :)

Dean

Edit: :hihi: Checkout that grin on Seinfeld's face as he is tweaking his amps to the dude playing it:
Still thats not one of the SE Models but it sounds better than any of the Dalllas demo clips i have heard.
- Nice mod, susiwong type thing going on i reckon, Hink and Eric as its his idea of 3 different plexi-era amps. Although right at the end with gains maxed it sounds shit like he just switched a crappy old bigg muff on with that non-pleasent square wave fuzz going on :?
and this is the model that is suspossed to cover M(arshall)D(umble)T(weed) territory:
That MDT is definately sounding the best of the three to me but of course
YMMV

I can not find a clip of any of the three SE amps

that's new amps from them, they have a 50 watt head that stores are pushing out on clearence...I would be interested in the 20 watt but thses words have come to scare me a way from gear "Scheduled to begin shipping..."

That's what Jet City has been sayin for 8 months on that iso cab and now I'm on the verge of writing Jet city everything off my wish list as a result. Monday the cab was suppose to come out and guess what?

I hate that and just will not do business with people that tease, tease, tease so I have started designing my own cab in turbo cad. I'll need a place to cut the wood but I can assemble it here. I'm going to go with (if I do this) particle board (1/2") 3 1/2" of sheetrock over that and then plywood for the outer shell covered with tolex. The top will be completely removable but the pieces of sheetrock will alternate over lapping so there are no seems and lock together.

Here you go:

Its transformers are modeled after the Cinemag transformers used in the American PRS's. I know the guy in China who did the SE transformers, he knows his stuff. Anyway, although I don't like the tone in that video, it does sound the same as the videos you posted of the American amps (which, btw, all sound the same to me).

Get a Pico Valve instead, we've got it in stock. ;)

Derek Trucks making the PRS amps sound better:

I wouldn't be surprised if this is a PRS amp:

For fun, here's Pete Thorn playing a Badger 30:

and Truck's wife is hot and can play pretty good  me a woman like that (yeah right like that would ever happen to me/get that lucky)

Im so lonely i could

Yeah much better sounds Eric :tu:, I like the look/idea of the 30-Watt 5881 power amp valve version but would have to try first, good to know the transformers are not junk also. Nice one mate

Dean

Edit: I hate it when amp demo clips/videos contain anything more than a boost/overdrive pedal (possibly a noise suppressor if its high-gain). Reverb is the bane of all the shitty amp demos: Just because the amp has it doesn't mean you have to cake everything with the shit :x /Rant over, Always gets my goat!

It sounds like a typically crappy youtube video. My guess is that it would be far more desirable front and center though.

Maybe. My front and center experiences with PRS amps haven't been stellar. The Sweet 16 is the weirdest, most midrange heavy amp I can remember playing. It was like taking the one thing I don't love about Mesa Boogie's and accentuating it to the nth degree.

Because I do plan on playing out again in the near future, I wanted an amp with lots of power options so I can tune the power band to the venue, be it a club, a quick jam or at home.

I ended up buying a Boogie Mark V five months ago- it works well. It's still pretty loud for late at night playing even knocked down to 10 watts, so in that situation I use an old Marshall Powerbrake to cut the volume down. This way, I can also run the amp at 45 or 90 watts and still be manageable if that's the way I want to go.

I'm running EL34s instead of 6L6s; while the ELs don't sound quite as fat in a couple of the modes, they really make the amp shine in others. Try running in Mark II-C mode with a Les Paul with P90s, for example

As always, YMMV...

Thanks for all the great info, clips and opinions, folks !
Wasn't aware of these SE amps ...
price list, looks reasonable for US, will be interesting to see how much they'll scr€w us over here in €urope again. :-o
On paper I guess the EL34 head would be my favourite, but you never know.
If it sounds anywhere near that modded Dallas I have to have one, asap.
Weird concept btw  , I'd expect to hear a production model in a demo, not a tweaked one-off ...
As for the others, the MDT was somewhat OK, didn't care for the HXDA at all, the SE driven was arrrgh, anybody heard the clarity the kid was raving about ?
I didn't, all mushy chords with far too much pre-gain bass messing with the tone. Would not necessarily blame it on the amp yet, however.
That's a major issue with clips, can't compare a Peter Thorn clip with that magic gift of hitting every setup just the ideal way  (I know two guys like that, incredible !) and showing off all the strengths of an amp, with that SE kid's demo on the other hand ...
The other players were somewhere in between, having good tone in their personal styles, but these clips probably don't tell you too much for your own style, unfortunately.
Not counting the crappy live recording, I personally do like the Sweet16 when Grissom plays it, no surprise somehow. :hihi:

Still, there's nothing like 1st hand experience. :tu:
I certainly take note of what you guys say about gear, the more I know about somebody's personal needs nd preferences, the better I can relate to his/her reports. 8)
So keep them coming ... :)

Great amp for versatility and allround tone ! :tu:
And any Boogie puts you in the pole position on stage, you'll be hard pressed not to cut through even at proper, moderate volume.
