The theme for this song was given to me, so I wanted to make something massive and epic to do it justice. As such, this was one of my most ambitious mixes to date, and I think it may have gotten away from me (to say nothing of the mastering process.

Any constructive feedback as to how to make it sound better would definitely be appreciated, but as the project I wrote this for is due to launch (no pun intended) in a few days, I don't have a lot of time to rerecord the vocals or anything.

Tweaked the mix... Mike Senior is right: you can accomplish a lot with even just a little main vocal levels automation. I'm not sure the overall track is loud enough now, though.

from my mad mello perspective:

beautiful, well structured and well arrranged song with a catchy chorus. Transparent mix.

observations:
the solo voice is too long alone and at times a bit weak. a chorussed additional voice, which gives some aroma of strenght in some parts (not the whole song, only some doubled words or phrases) would be fine.
there is a synth sound that is too cheesy, but it's a matter of taste.
Cymbal and hi hatzz are a bit over sizzled at times.

thank you very much for the beautiful song, DrAx!

Pretty entertaining track...the lyrics are clever!

I'll agree that "thickening" the vocals would make the track stronger.

Genesis, though? I don't think so.

Unless you meant Project Genesis, from Star Trek II...

Khhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnn! :x

+1 Doesn't sounds much like Genesis to me.

Unless you mean Genesis of the Daleks.

Hhhhaaaaavvvvvee ppppppiiiiiittttttttyyyyy!!!!!!!!

Oh sorry, wrong show ;)

Great song :)

Yeah.. I haven't actually listened to a lot of Genesis, but if there's a sure-fire way to get people to read your post around here (and it's not "Christopher Cross")....

Hmm. I think my next song should be about Daleks. Unless that's been done to death?

Thanks for the great feedback, Mello! Getting feedback from one of my KVR heroes is always a treat! Like I said, the mix kind of got away from me on this one (trying too many new things at once, I guess). The vocal part is doubled during parts of the chorus, and was actually chorused at one point, but then I started having problems with the 32-bit version of Schwa's Oligarc chorus (to say nothing of the d16 chourus) in 64-bit Reaper and it was then that I realized I don't have a 64-bit chorus plug (unless you count Amplitube and even then I started having problems trying to put another instance of it into the project). The cheesy synth was intentional (honest!)!

Usually my hats sound dull and flat, and when I got sknote's Presence plug I couldn't resist turning the action dial way up (I really need to read the manual on that thing). I'll try backing that down a bit and see if it tames the sizzle.

Thank you so much for your feedback!
