Hi,
the Waldorf Lector Vocoder plugin is now available:
http://www.waldorfmusic.de/en/lector-overview.html
http://www.waldorfmusic.de/en/lector-sp ... tions.html
Evaluation version:
http://www.waldorfmusic.de/en/lector-ev ... cense.html
Manuals:
http://www.waldorfmusic.de/en/lectordow ... ation.html
Currently the plugin is only available as a boxed version for 199 Euros.
The download version should follow later but i don't know a date so far.
Some shops:
http://www.idealo.de/preisvergleich/Off ... music.html
Lector works as a FX plugin and is available either as VST2 or VST3 for Windows and Mac. For the VST2 there is a second plugin called "Lector Carrier" for using the Sidechain mode of Lector.
With the Sidechain mode you could use a second sound source (e.g. synth, sample, audio input) as the Carrier signal.
Copy protection is by eLicenser, either with USB dongle or soft eLicenser.
BTW one of the developers is Thomas Rehaag who is also responsible for the development of Hamburg-Audio Nuklear:

The lector is clearly basd on the old de-coder for powercore. As someone who owns this I wondered if there would be an upgrade path to this newer version
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

@ericj23: i read in some blog that there will be an update for 99 euro for d-coder owners. however, to be certain you have to wait for an official statement from waldorf.
@mellotronaut: if lector is too expensive for you and you, by any chance, own reaktor, than go for razor. this is a fascinating synth and one of the best vocoders i have heard so far.

also check the sonicstate video review on youtube. there is the actual review and part 2 that demonstrates some of the sounds and the vocoder functionality of razor. i don't want to argue against lector (the video on musotalk is also great) and i'm sure to buy it next week but with razor you get a great synth plus vocoder for 69 euro.

@maxxxter. yep, being an additive synth razor is certainly not warm or analog sounding. it is sometimes metallic and harsh, but on other occasions airy, dreamy and even mellow. all in all, it is a digital synth in the best sense of the word. take a look at the sonicstate videos. but i think we should go back to the original topic which is lector. i must say that i'm really looking forward to it and the videos really show that it is a very capable vocoder with a great, clear sound and a fantastic understandability of the speech signal you feed it. but again, this is a waldorf synth and fx and the sound also tends to the bright and digital side (at least from the first audio and video demos of it).
