Problem with note in bass line

Hi all,
Im in a little dilemma with a track I'm working on in the R&B genre.
The track is completed except for the bass line, which I want to keep simple, so it wasn't a problem to keep it to last. Well so I though...
I want a "real bass" played not a synth bass so to speak so I fired up SampleTank and the electric basses 2 Xpansion.
All goes smoothly until I hit the 1st and 2nd note which is G.
The sequence goes G G F C (next octave)and Cm. G is the route note and go to note to start yet it doesn't sound right, like it's out of key yet all other notes which Ive tried don't fit or sound right either. It has to be the G note.
I tried using semitones but it still sounds wrong. The bass plays along a synthy key which follows the same pattern which sound fine on its own.
As its monophonic playing two notes does'nt sound right.
Not sure what to do...

I find your original post very confusing (everything is fine until you play the first notes??? - that sounds like it's not fine at all if it goes wrong at the beginning).
It would be great if you could provide more information on what you're doing (what chords/notes are you playing on other instruments) - or better still, upload a snippet from the song.
From your description it's impossible to tell what you're trying to do and what isn't working. Do you know what key you're in if G is the root note? My guess is G minor, but it's only a guess. That the root note is out of key doesn't make any sense at all though.

Hi thanks for the replies.
Sorry I should of made it more clear.
I have a piano sample playing in the key of C minor with a synth playing the notes G G F C Bm. The bass also starts with G. The simple synths (keys) plays fine over the C minor piano sample but the bass does not. G sounds out.
I think its the chords played on the piano audio file that may be the cause.
The notes on the piano audio file seem to be playing C and G at the same time which is causing a harmonic (i think)? As the bass is monophonic, playing both C and G doesn't work. The piano piece is instrumental to the track.

Maybe the Sampletank patch is out of tune? Also Bm might not fit in the key Cm.

Do you mean Bb? Bmin is not a note but a chord. Bb would fit with a Cmin7 chord.Mikelo wrote:Hi thanks for the replies.

I've just uploaded a demo of the current work on Soundcloud as an example. Its as raw as it gets, unmixed, no panning or anything else. Also or course, missing the bass.
The part of the track I was talking about with tryng the bass with the keys G G F C Bb comes in at around 38 seconds.

When I jammed along quickly I found that the following bassline works for me pretty much throughout the song (with each note 1 bar.)
C/Bb/C/Bb/C/Bb/Ab/F
You can easily throw in an Eb with the C, and a G with the Bb. AFAICT, the root note is C (with the key being Cm) not G.
