If you could add one audio-related feature to iOS or iPhone, iPad, iPod touch hardware, what would it be? Why?
Frequency Ear Training iOS App - Quiztones v1.5 just released!

Not audio related only but I really, really wish that you could use the iPhone as an USB mass storage device so you could transfer files back and forth freely - without jailbreaking or 3rd party software. I also wish that all apps had access to all files stored on the phone. I guess there are mean people out there that wishes that too but still. It would make music creation so much easier without involving the often tedious iTunes procedure.

I agree about the midi.
I haven't got wifi on my daw so real cables are my choice but not quite as 'real' as George posted!

Using a wired setup also gets rid of of latency introduced by WiFi wireless protocol. I know Alesis IO Dock can send MIDI over USB to a computer but it's not a cheap solution and suitable for iPad only.

Sample sharing would be awesome. Instead of having to add samples to each and every program you have, you should be able to put the samples in ONE single directory that the applications can access.... Im not a programmer so i dont know how to go about this, but maybe a sample directory app that shares aliases to the other programs could do it?

A decent accessible file system period would be nice, not just for audio.ryanshitlipz wrote:Sample sharing would be awesome. File sharing between Apps actaully on the ipad instead of using iTunes on a computer. That would be awesome. Also an official Apple audio/MIDI interface instead of all the current half baked and make do solutions. Alesis IO Dock looks like one of the best oprions around but it's got some serious issues - MIDI I/O apparently doesn't work that well, Audio input doesn't work at all with some Apps because they already have custom hardware. Could have been a more universal solution if Apple done it themselves. Also a lot of the Apps I use are inversal & run portrait and not landscape. Not to mention iphone Apps on the ipad. Not much good using these in the IO dock.

Audio in port and a proper usb port.

Getting content in and out of my ipods and ipad2 is a tedious and error prone procedure. Not sure if this only relates to windows users - I am on Win64 - but the amount of sync errors I am constantly getting with Itunes is ridicolous. A proper usb port would help overcome many of the issues related to music production and easy content exchange - i.e. samples, loops, midi-files, presets, etc. - but I doubt this will materialise with the next IPad versions. Lets see if ICloud will solve some of these issues!

Definitely - and it should work for all controllers - my wifi is too weak in the room where my desktop PC is as its at the top of the house which makes it hard to keep a connection with apps like the Omnisphere one.ford442 wrote:+1george wrote:Direct Core MIDI > USB from iOS device to computer to avoid a setup like this:
Also I wish iOS apps had proper multitasking so they could sit alongside each other on the screen rather than just see one at a time (even on other smart phones you can have say a weather app open on screen at the same time as a news or email app or something)

What I'm missing:
* direct exchange of audio files between apps (direct means: no additional hardware needed, no bridge apps needed)
* multitasking support for all my music apps
* one app to record what I hear (no mic recording, record what I'm just playing)
* decent sequencer app for midi AND audio tracks
* line in and line out
