Unfortunately the modern Gettoblaster is called "Dumb"-phone. Very mono. :-o

Thanks, Bronto :)
(On Mac here.. I made a copy of one of the existing presets, opened it in TextEdit, pasted the contents, and resaved as "Andromeda.vprest".. perfect! :) )
I did get a life,once...but it was faulty, so I sent it back.

It's way easier :)
Just copy my text, open VRoom, open the preset menu and click "Paste from clipboard" :)
Another really nice feature of VRoom 8)

Cheers

I keep sending almost everything through my "Andromeda" preset :hihi:
Even boring PWM and FM basses sound good through it :hihi:

Cool! BTW, what synth made that "boring" PWM bass?
I so love that big spacy reverb stuff. About 500 years ago I found out that I like that stuff when I listened to Andreas Vollenweider and his Cave reverb. I think it was a Lexicon!?
And Mike Oldfield with QE2!!! That one was a revelation. That was the Quantec, right?
Me too can't resist anymore so VRoom made it unto my birthday wishlist.

Both, the FM sound and the PWM sound, are made with U-He Bazille :)

Ah yes! :) (In fact I did try copy/pasting, but, because I use CopyPaste Pro (multiple clipboards), its "P(aste)" function didn't work. But, so long as the preset is still at the top of the pile, then VRoom's "Paste from clipboard" still works. Thank you :).

I love VRoom, especially the dark space mode (which you can hear above)

Here is the preset if anyone is interested :)

@Sean: Would it be possible to add some sort of tempo-sync for parameters like
pre-delay/decay? Would this make sense for you?

Btw, the ambience presets are amazing. They gave me the shivers whilst on my headphones. Just so real sounding. We really are spoilt these days, aren't we 8)

I just started work on an homage to PiL's drum sounds on their Flowers of Romance album and I guess Phil Collins by association. :)

In doing so I found out about the stone room, although I guess they just recorded in a stone room. I've recorded in stone spaces, but not a purpose made stone room. It's embarrassing, but I never even knew stone rooms were a "thing".

Haven't got there on the drum sound, but using some volume to MIDI triggers on decay is giving me a novel spin on the gated snare sound. I have it set up so the drum hit triggers MIDI and then waits a bit to ratchet down the decay. I've done some experiments with vocals that have been nice too. Worth playing with.

Thanks for the knowledge! Never experimented with these settings much before, but that push in the right direction was all that was needed. I'm now trying to "break" VR and my other reverbs with creative routing and plugins like stereotool. It's pretty rewarding so far. Using Audiomulch and Numerology to rapidly switch/crossfade from one mode to the other is making me dizzy.:wheee:

I'm sure I'll find a practical use for it later, but this is fun.

At this point, adding tempo sync for the parameters would screw up the saved projects for existing VRoom users. In general, you can't add parameters to a plugin already in use without causing a LOT of issues for existing users of the plugin. The extra reverb modes for ValhallaRoom were possible because I left enough empty "slots" for those modes during the design process. Unfortunately, I didn't reserve any unused parameter "slots" ahead of time.

Glad you are liking the ambiences!

I need to track down that PiL album. I only have Second Edition. Having a non-Phil Collins reference for the Phil Collins drum sound would be useful. ;)

BTW, there needs to be a neo-preppy post-punk revival band named the Flowers of Bromance.

I didn't know that the book in question was a "thing." In other words, I need to get a copy of that book. It looks really cool. And that is an interesting idea, that stone rooms in studios were built as a response to the sounds bands were getting working with mobile studios in mansions, castles, etc. I wonder if any studio would try to recreate the stairwell at Headley Grange.
Haven't got there on the drum sound
Have you tried just using the Early section, with a longer Early Size? Set DEPTH to 0.0, and use the Early reverb to get a "nonlinear" reverb sound.

Are there any plugins that offer a sidechain-triggered gate? This would simulate the actual process used to get the Phil Collins sound. Replace the reverb with a pitch shifter, shifting down part of a semitone and with lots of feedback, and you have the drum sound of "Low" and "The Idiot." The gate is critical to get that abrupt stop to the decay.

Well, that actually might break things, in the sense that every time you change reverb modes, the delay lines are "zeroed out" (i.e. filled with zeros) to avoid weird transition sounds. This causes a bit of a CPU hit. But if it works for you, go for it. You have been warned. :D

Thanks for the reply, Sean. Technical difficulties aside, would you regard
tempo-sync as useful at all? I mean i could adjust by ear or just enter the according ms values manually. I would just like your opinion on the matter
as to me you are one of the 'gods of reverb' 8)

I'm liking the new modes. No offense Sean, but I never use the original 'bright' types. The dark stuff is just more my style. So, I say go darker still!

I would love to have a mode that sound like, say, a wood cabin with some rugs around. A smaller space where the echos die down quickly, and very muted highs. Earthy and organic, but dim.

I just finished few presets more and I have to say that Narcissus algo. overperform PCM Hall algo. You can find this preset in this folder. Sounds wider and more live to my ears.
Some of the presets, that will be included in the new version are here:
