Hi guys. For an upcoming art project I would like to use my iPad as a sampler to record domestic sounds. Can someone point me to the best one available in the App Store?
I also probably need an external microphone and the means to connect it to the iPad.

Hope that you would be so kind to guide me in the right direction.

Hi Madeleine, definitely check out the iRig Mic, it's just what you're looking for!

Download the companion app, iRig Recorder. FREE version available too.

@ Brian.

Thanks for your input. Looks like it's just what I need. The only thing to complete my quest now is a sampler app on my iPad. As far as I can tell iRig Recorder isn't a sampler, or am I missing something?

@Conundrum. Thanks for your input. I saw also an app (samplelab) that might be useful for me. What do you think?

Hi Madeleine,
No opinion on Samplelab as I don't have it, but check out the free apps Pocket Wavepad HD and Wave/Thief. If you want to mangle the sampled sounds too, check out for example RealBeat, SyloSynth, Filtatron and Samplewiz. Then there are loopers like Loopy and LoopXtreme. It all depends how you would like to process the samples (if at all).

Cheers,
Sami
