+1 for randomizer, that would be great.
I'm hoping to find some time to check ElectraX today. I've listened to the demo a few times now and I keep finding new sounds that impress me lots.

Click on the INIT button which resides just above the SETTINGS window right in the middle of th GUI. Then marvel at all the randomizer options.
(unless this has been taken out in the actual demo...)

After demoing it for an hour or so I can't really make up my mind if this impresses me or not. Most of the Factory presets are gruesome imo, some features seem to be promising, couldn't yet create anything special with the fractals oscillators. After all that hyping about ElectraX I thought this would blow my mind or at least my ears but maybe some more experiments are needed.

When Gladiator came out, i was amazed and it really blew my mind, the effect of surprise was really strong
ElectraX is undoubtely an amazing product as well, a step forward after gladiator and with this very typical sonic character i knew from Gladiator (and likely other Tone2 products at diverse degree), but very first impression isn't such intense as it was when i discover Gladiator (a bit too similar to create once again the same chock)
...i might see though, what this beast has in the gusts related to it sound design potential before pretending to any kind of deception, just to be fair !!!!!!!

I originally tried demoing this when it came out, but there was a bug that prevented it from working in Logic at the time. I finally got around to demoing it properly and the sound is very good, however my dislikes:
- The layout is nice, but they really need to lose the perspective 3d / cartoonish interface. The GUI could also be smaller.
- Why have four layers that act as if they are four separate synths in one instance if it's not multi-timbral? Maybe have a regular, less expensive version called "Electra" with only one layer and then have a 4 layer, multi-timbral version called "ElectraX".
- I'm sure there's a better spot for the resource files than the root plugin folder? Maybe have them install inside Library/Preferences/Tone2/ElectraX.

Was also wondering about this as well?
Liero wrote:Someone care to comment on the DRM/Copy protection on ElectraX? It seems like a nice synth but I've heard that the copy protection Tone2 uses is similar to a rootkit that really fvcks with your computer, almost like malware? I once had a total system meltdown due to a sony rootkit and I really don't wanna go down that path again...

That was all a BS story that got out if hand, and no one, and I mean NO ONE could ever give any concrete evidence of that allegation. Bull plop... a complete claptrap story.

You can set a different MIDI channel for each synth in the settings panel and control each synth independently from the others.djanthonyw wrote: - Why have four layers that act as if they are four separate synths in one instance if it's not multi-timbral?

I'm not understanding a benefit factor for this since it's not multi-timbral. Each of the layers act as a whole other synth, but in the same instance. As far as I can tell there isn't even a master cut off knob for all of the layers combined, you have to adjust the cut off or anything else for each of the four layers if you want to do a coherent effect like a filter sweep. If I want to layer stuff I could just load up another instance on another channel so that I can use different insert fx on each one.MaxSynths wrote:You can set a different MIDI channel for each synth in the settings panel and control each synth independently from the others.djanthonyw wrote: - Why have four layers that act as if they are four separate synths in one instance if it's not multi-timbral?
