MIDI controllers powered by iPad?

Has anyone seen a list of MIDI controllers that can be powered by the 20mA supplied by the iPad via the camera connection kit? I'm not looking for MIDI interfaces or devices that can be powered via the Alesis IO Dock. I'm only looking for controllers (keyboards, knob boxes, etc.) that can be powered directly from the iPad's battery.
It looks like the Korg NanoKey, the Akai LPK25 and Alesis Q49 will work this way. Will any other mini controllers work?
Sorry if this topic has already been covered. I did a quick search but didn't find anything.
Thanks.

For both controllers and interfaces. Pretty much everything that does and does not work with IOS.

Thanks for the link!
I'm finding that some controllers which prompt a "The attached device uses too much power!" warning when hot-plugged, do not prompt such a warning if you connect it while the iPad is off. I wonder if this has to do with in-rush current vs. operating current levels or if there is a bug in the software Apple uses to determine current draw.

Use a powered hub for usb devices that claim to work with iPad2. That will fix most problems.

Thanks Mike but the whole point of my investigation is to find controllers that will work with only a USB cable going to the iPad. No powered hubs, no ac adapters. Just bus power provided by the iPads battery.Karmacomposer wrote:Use a powered hub for usb devices that claim to work with iPad2. That will fix most problems.

I'm having better luck than I thought I would with this. My Oxygen 25 (3rd gen) works fine without a powered hub. If I plug the keyboard in before I turn on the iPad, it doesn't complain that it's using too much power.
According to Apple, the OS will only bus power devices that draw less than 20mA. However I'm currently powering a device which draws more than 70mA without any problems. I'm using an iPad2 running iOS v 4.3.5.

according to some hardware devs it's actually a 100mA acceptance limit for the iPad.

That list says the Akai SynthStation25 doesn't work at all, but I have used it successfully with both iPad and iPad2 using a powered hub.Karmacomposer wrote:Use a powered hub for usb devices that claim to work with iPad2. That will fix most problems.

Actually, I discovered something very cool last night. Using this setup you can use the iPad2 to control iPhone apps through the SynthStation25....so you can use Genome on the iPad to sequence notes/midi CC's etc. Even apps that are not SynthStation25 compatible. For example I was controlling SunrizerXS and NanoStudio on the iPhone using Genome MIDI Synthesizer on the iPad. Totally unexpected but it works!

Please read my first post before you advertise your employers products. I mean, that's just common courtesy right?ObiK wrote:With iRig MIDI you will be able to use any midi controller. Plus you can still charge your device while using midi.

Hmm...looks like the list might have been update now. Now says the SS25 works with a powered hub.iDesignSound wrote:That list says the Akai SynthStation25 doesn't work at all, but I have used it successfully with both iPad and iPad2 using a powered hub.Karmacomposer wrote:Use a powered hub for usb devices that claim to work with iPad2. I read it. I still think iRig Midi would work in your situation. Using external midi controllers can really open up your possibilites and options.justin3am wrote:Please read my first post before you advertise your employers products. I don't think you have enough information to come to that conclusion.ObiK wrote:I read it. I still think iRig Midi would work in your situation. Look, I'm not saying you shouldn't post in this thread. I'm just asking that you acknowledge that the product you are advertising doesn't meet the criteria I specified. It may be ideal for other people who are reading this thread but I specifically said "I'm not looking for MIDI interfaces..."
Further, this kind of marketing turns me off of IK products big time. It's not what you say, but how you say it.
