The ironic thing would be for Fender to buy Gibson and then immediately shelve them.

Those are made by a company in China called Mings who also makes pickups for Guitar Fetish:

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Is that definite Eric?

I'm not complaining as I'm the very satisfied owner of both Irongear and GFS pups :D

Sadly, it looks like I'll be disappointed. The site claims all orders received before 12 noon are dispatched the same day (as happened with my other Skylark guitars) but this time I've only received the automated *order received* email, tho' my card has been charged, but no word from Steve at Skylark himself :(

Happily I was wrong and it arrived safe'n'sound this afternoon :tu:

First impressions are pretty favourable :D it's a long time since I last played a 335-esque shaped guitar, that being a stunning Epiphone Sheraton that I bitterly regret selling, which played no small part in my hankering after this Skylark CountryWood.

It looks superb, tho' sadly they seem to have changed the pup specs from Filter Tronic style to ordinary buckers, but they're not bad and I may well keep them. It's even longer since I played a Gretch and I was looking forward to seeing how these pups stacked up against my memories of the real thing.

I can't say as I'm overly keen on the Bigsby style trem, tho' it works well enough and stays in tune but won't be getting a lot of use from me. The overall build quality is fantastic, but as usual it's crying out for a full setup and fret dress. There's a stunning guitar just itching to be brought out so it'll be booked in shortly to let my guitar tech work his magic.

starting a new tradition...when an actor is to perform it's bad luck to wish them good luck so of course they say "break a leg". So Ian my friend, break a string ;)

Thanks Hink, but that'll be difficult as it'll clearly be happier with 11's or heavier and I can't remember the last time I broke a 10.

Holy crap! I knew your Daion was cool but not THAT $$$ cool. I'm guessing the mrs isn't allowing for twins?? :hihi:

Are you not tempted to start a collection Hink? There's a guy over at CM forums who's spent years getting together a collection of Kawais (iirc) they all look much the same to me bar the finishes but he likes them. Granted they're not in the Daions price bracket but are probably nearly as scarce.

'EDIT'

Yep, definitely Kawais http://www.musicradar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=90321 his *family* is on the 2nd page.
