err, YEEEAAAH....DUUUUH !!!  :D :D
It's been a long year. I'm amazed at how some things take FOREVER to get done. Like the manual.

Example: Yesterday, I was playing with ÜberMod, and decided I wanted a chorus mode that emulated the oscillator spread of the Swarmatron. So I put something together, put the hooks in the GUI and plugin base code, and had it up and running in 1/2 hour. It sounds beautiful, and has possibilities I didn't know existed.

Meanwhile, I finally figured out the OSX installer issues. After, what, 2 weeks of beta releases?

Having said that, ValhallaRoom 1.0.8 is finally on its way out the door. I'm building the release OSX installer right now, and will build the demo version next. After that, Windows. And I am very lucky and grateful to be able to make things that sound cool for a living.

this is gonna sound like a complaint, but be sure it isn't - i would think that a thorough manual would be up there on the list, prioritised, before the newer plugs

i know you have the stuff up on blogs, but it feels a little scattered like this and i feel vroom is deserving of being as complete as it can be (even though constant improvements might negate such completeness :) )

anyways, appreciate it all, hope you take this in the spirit intended

@ Sean Oh Nooooo....! Please ValhallaUberMod first.

@ebow

Why do you need manual? Help window is always displayed.
All theory is already on Blog. Very easy to program..

I'll throw in a suggestion for the presets though - milder mix settings. The first thing I do with each preset is drag down the mix to something less extreme.
Mix at 100% is, for the better part, standard for use in the return channel during a mix down. I would imagine that this is the environment in use during the presets creation. 8)

You know there's a Mix Lock feature right? You can find a subtle mix setting as a starting point, then enable the Mix Lock, and all the new presets will load at that new Mix value.

I'm readying the ValhallaRoom 1.0.8 update email, web page changes, blog post, etc. I think I'll launch the update tomorrow morning. If there are ValhallaRoom users that absolutely, positively can't wait until then, just send me a PM or email and I'll set you up with the new version.

I know it now. I actually remember reading that at some point while researching VRoom, but forgot about it.

So is your focus going back to the new plug now that 1.0.8 is out (or will be tomorrow), Sean?

Once 1.0.8 is released, I'll be concentrating on cleaning up the house for a few days. When you work for yourself, you can do things like this. Whee.

Once the house is reasonably spic and span, back to working on ÜberMod. Did I post the screenshot here yet?

I want to get some sound files up as well. I haven't run my little Korg Monotron through ÜberMod yet - I think it could do some cool things.

Somewhere in there, I need to release the ValhallaRoom documentation. I found a Word doc that was underway - it just needs to be nicely formatted, have the 1.0.8 changes added to it, and save it as a .pdf.

Are you talking about ValhallaRoom? Seriously, if you are a user, send me a PM and I will set you up with the links. I've got new demo links as well - just need to change the website to point to the new installers.

If you are talking about ValhallaÜberMod, well, here's the plugin running in Dark mode:

Besides changing the color of the GUI, Dark mode also runs things at a lower sampling rate internally, in order to give some vintage mojo and keep the high frequencies from being too obtrusive. The bright mode runs things at the full shiny bandwidth.

I should note that ValhallaUberMod (I'll type it without the umlaut every now and then, just to make it easier to search for) isn't based on vintage stomp box choruses. To be perfectly honest, I haven't heard any of those that I really like. I am far more influenced by the Dimension choruses, the Lexicon and Ensoniq multi-voice choruses, string ensembles, and taking all the theory behind those and extending it into weird new realms that can stretch sound like taffy.

pm'd :D

but yeah...übermod..can't wait. :D

Any chance I can get it to sound like Setting 1 on the chorus in my Juno 106. I've heard a lot of chorus effects, but I never found one I liked as much as the chorus on the Juno 106.

From the looks of the taps section, I'm thinking Ubermod may be able to do those really lush diffused delays that I love so much from SoundToys Echo Boy. I find that the different saturation modes in Echo Boy have a big impact on the character of how the repeats break apart when you crank the diffusion and size. By any chance, does Ubermod's EQ section have different clipping/overdrive/saturation modes?

ValhallaRoom has been updated to version 1.0.8. The major changes:

- Resizable GUI. Now you can make the GUI much, much bigger. It also gets smaller, if that is your thing.
- Two new reverb modes: Nostromo and Narcissus

- Both reverb modes are "dark," and have the features/quirks of older reverbs (i.e. no high frequency content above 11 kHz, sparser initial echo density, somewhat noisier modulation)
- Nostromo is designed for HUGE, expansive spaces.
- Narcissus is "smaller," but still sounds big. It is also the lightest on the CPU of all the ValhallaRoom algorithms.

- A bunch of new presets from Den

You can download the 1.0.8 demo and purchase the plugin at

If you are a ValhallaRoom customer, and you haven't received links to the updates, send me an email and I'll send the links your way. I had a few Comcast addresses bounce back to me, due to some spam filter, so I have tried to contact those customers via alternate routes (i.e. my Gmail account).
