This is very far from what I do myself, or even listen to, but I was somehow drawn to the atmosphere at hand here.
I don't know why I think this but this track would be suitable for a sad scene in an old silent film :? But there are also something unknown lurking underneath the piano, something "evil" one might say. The music makes me feel uncertain and a bit insecure or even frightened. That makes all the difference :)

Music is supposed to move you, this does but not in the way I usually experience.
Interesting.

Cheers tatsama old friend! :)

Thanks for that K-Bee! I'm glad to hear it was able to pull you outside your normal listening zone. As for your interpretation, it's pretty much dead on with the mood I was trying to create, so I'm quite pleased that came across for you. :)

With the evil undertones in this piece, I guarantee you wouldn't last for 10 minutes!! :hihi:

Of course, if he does survive, it'll prove our suspicions that he's a witch. He can then be burned at the stake. If he doesn't survive, well, he'll be exonerated. It's a win-win situation... for us! :)

If not for the noises, I'd say this was beautiful and thought-inducing, but all the howling in the background never really lets you settle in the meditative mood, and forces you to be on guard. Once the drums come in, it becomes a bit friendlier and feels, hehe, 'safer'. The howling of the night is still there, though. All in all, very nice! :tu:

If you ever decide to quit making music, you would be well-suited for a career in politics!

This track certainly has a dark feeling to it. A nice tune with a marinade of fear and unspoken terror.

Thank you gents - much appreciated!

Just for the record, there aren't many politicians I don't despise, so I definitely couldn't stomach that game. Now... Head Inquisitor... that's got a nice ring to it! ;)

There's not quite enough of it, but otherwise smashing. Thanks, polyslax.

Verrry interesting Matt... nice.....this could totally make a great sound track to an interesting/avant garde film/animation or even a cool game?

I really like that it is totally free of cliches? To me this has a twentieth century Bela Bartok vibe to it (I'm really not qualified to make that judgment)?

What are you using for your piano on this one?

GREAT way to wake up and one of my faves from you.

Thanks a bunch DHM + Chuck!

Chuck - The piano, which was recorded in August 2010 btw, was played with Pianoteq. One thing I did that was new and different in this track was use ValhallaRoom as my main reverb. I've only used Altiverb for the past 5 years or so, but VR really gave me the feel I was after on this one.
