The GUI has been completely redone. At least to me, it's a huge improvement. When it's a little more stable, I'll post some screenshots.
The synthesis engine is a little more flexible, but under the hood, it's mostly the same.
As for and ETA, I think it's still at least couple of months out. Most of the core functionality is there and working, but there's a lot of smaller details I still need to work out.

Great to hear, thanks for your work! I'll be glad to pay for an update, btw, I think the price is already more than fair.

The sample loading sounds cool, I have a bunch of electronic drum machine stuff that you can get for free on the net.
I hope the old Ex drum synth and the new version can run side by side in a daw, by which I mean they don't share the same ID forcing me to have Reaper scan one at a time only. Still, that's a small matter.

Whats the status of V2?
I'm thinking of picking it up, but if a V2 is around, then I'll wait on then

V2 is still under development. I've gotten through about 2/3 of the things on the 'to do' list since July. So, I'm guessing the coding will take about another month. At which point, it will need presets and testing.
I'm planning to let all registered users upgrade for the difference in price between v2 and v1, so you won't be penalized if you decide to buy v1 now.

Yes, it looks way better now, congratulation for the eye-candy.
What are the main changes, sound and feature-wise ?

The sequencer is faster and more interactive than the one in the original.
Rather than select from a large selection of loops, you build your own pattern interactively, by combining a kick pattern, a snare pattern, and a ride pattern. You can change any of these three parts while it's playing, making it great for live use. It's just as easy to use to program drum tracks for full songs.
You can also string together patterns to create sections, loop them, and jump between them using midi notes. This can be used for practicing or jamming.
Synthesis
The synthesizer now has two levels of editing: sound and model. The sound editing is meant to provide basic sound shaping of existing drum models. You can adjust things like envelopes, filters, and pitch. Then, for more advanced editing, you can edit the models and control every partial separately. Having individual control of the partials will allow for better cymbal models than in the original.
General Gui
Things are a lot more obvious in the new gui. For example, if you use an envelope on a knob. The knob will change into a small envelope. Hopefully, You'll be able figure most of it out without reading any documentation.
