Can we load external waveforms in Zebralette? Seems like a gray area between samples and not-samples. Of course, one could always view the waveform and hand-draw it...

Cheers for the submissions all and also the patches Pete, but i believe u forgot to list the effects u used (or not).

You can't load samples directly into Zebra/Zebralette. But there's an app called wave2zebra. There you can paste singlecycle wavesamples into one of 16 slots and then it renders a Zebra wavetable. You can paste in up to 16 single samples or less. The spaces will be interpolated. It's much work and it often doesn't sound like the original waveform at all. But can be much fun.

You can download lots of wavetables from here:
http://www.u-he.com/PatchLib/zebra.html#mseg
There are many classic waves (VS, PPG, Largo, Virus, Massive,...).
The Multienvelope presets will also work in Zebralette.

My bad - should have said "wavetables" as opposed to "samples". That's what makes it a grey area.V'ger wrote:Cheers for the submissions all and also the patches Pete, but i believe u forgot to list the effects u used (or not).

I know - there's so much "stuff" you can do just with Zebralette - I've been in "try stuff out and never produce music" mode for-like-everpocvecem wrote:You can download lots of wavetables from here:

I doubt I'll use any external wavetables, but already have the Massive wavetables (I know, that's like sacrilege, but there are some nice waves there). Between that and the ones on the U-he site, you could spend a lifetime just creating patches.
Yet, with all that, my budding submission has but two sounds so far - a bass and clave. But it's an awesome clave

Oh thanks V'ger... I posted that info in the song description and also here in this thread I thought it was enough...do I need to put it someplace else? to repeat I used no extra effects or plug-ins other than Zebralette itself and the channel EQ in my host logic...

@ JoeCat:
I know what you mean with "try stuff out and never produce music" mode.
Now just imagine how much time I spent with Zebra since I bought it last year. The only problem with sound research in Zebra is: hey, nice sounds. I just don't have a song for them. Sometimes the cleaner and not so complex sounds work better for what I'm doing.
Nevertheless, check the other wavtables as well. There are some goodies!
Cheers

Third and maybe last entry for OSC 32, "Kepler-12b" (it's an extrasolar planet that orbits around two stars, the first discovered with such a peculiarity).
This time it's not very "easy listening" track; it's an experimental track, basically a 3/4, but sometimes tries to go 4/4!.
I've made it with:
- Cubase Studio 4
- 24 Zebralette instances,
- TAL Reverb II, TAL dub II on send
- Melda DC blocker, Ferric TDs and TLs Maximizer on master bus
- some automations on volumes, pans and filter
Hope you like it, and feel free to criticize (expecially the mix, which doesn't convince myself very much).
Cheers!
[EDIT]: look Ma, no percs!

Brilliant with the wavetables Pocvecem, cheers. I also remember seeing a bunch of single cycle wavs somewhere, will post if i find them. About the legality of importing wavetables i don't have any trouble with it as they are not samples per se, what do u all think?

Ah ok, i just couldn't find it. I'm agree with using these little waves.
They are not drumloops or anything like that, just little external waves, which are the same and very important to make works a synth.
The single cycle Zebroscillators from Sendy, who made a great work are here.
They are for Zebra, but you can use them on Zebralette too.
More patches here
Have a good day

thanks V'ger --
Yes! you will find plenty of dedicated Wavetables and MSEGs for the Zebra synths in the u-he KVR forum.... or alternately you can also draw them in and create them yourself. In fact, if you load my "Moonlit Zebralette" patch bank you will find there are some extra Wavetables and unique MSEGs saved in some of the patches too, they get saved along with the rest of the parameters whenever you make a patch.

Hmm. I seem to be having a tough time controlling Zebralette's filter resonances. Everything seems very squelchy and harsh. Anyone have any good tips for controlling the resonance?

Use a filter in the second FX part and use it in negative (to the left). Or just EQizing the high frecuency. Or put an external low pass filter the effect chainer.ancient wrote:Hmm. Thanks for the input.Use a filter in the second FX part and use it in negative (to the left). Or just EQizing the high frecuency. Or put an external low pass filter the effect chainer.
I would think that putting a second filter on would just create a bandpass effect (also with equally high resonance). If I understand the manual, it's a 100db/octave filter so an 18db EQ will be almost useless to balance out the sharp peaks, especially if the filter is sweeping.
As for an external filter, yes, that could work, though it wouldn't have any of the modulation options.
I'm finding it hard to believe that there is no resonance control though.
Urs? Any guidance?
