Mmm...Not working in Cubase 6.04 ( OSX 10.6.8 ). Cubase can't even find the plugin. :?

Post

Synth 1 was the first VST I ever used, and now I have it back :)

So happy.

This is my first time around the block with this one. No problem with the download or install. I am simply amazed that this puppy is free :)

And it has such a small cpu hit as well. Wow!

There are some things you can try.
First, make cubase re-scan the plugins folder.
If that doesn't work try the next thing.
Take your cubase cache file out of the Library/Caches folder, and move it to your documents folder for now.
Restart cubase and see if it shows up.
Doing this will most probably reset all your cbase preference settings though.
You can also try moving the cubase preference file (user name/Library/Preferences/ -- to your documents folder.
If none of these work put your original files back where they were to restore your original preferences.
Then email him a bug report like that.

Thanks a lot to the developer, for the mac version of Synth1. :)

Quick test, it's not showing up in Cubase 6 / Snow Leopard here either. I've reset my plugin cache. Must be a bug.

Works OK in Live but caused a problem when trying to Quit. All menu options greyed out, so had to Force Quit.

Peace,
Andy.

I don't get it. There's no Synth1.vst file. The zip opens a folder with content.
Is the plugin supposed to the that "folder"? (Never seen this before. Seems weird.)

Ok...works!

I haven't tried it myself but it sounds as though the bundle bit isn't set. Plug-ins and applications in OS X are usually folders but disguised in the file system - if the bundle bit is on, it will look like a regular file.

just an fyi since we all seem to be having different results from the download.

It worked for me.
OSX 10.6.7 / Live 8.2.2
There were no folders in my download, just the Synth1 vst.
I placed the Synth1.vst in my VST folder.
I did not unzip the preset(s) files.
I placed all zipped preset(s) files in my ".../Documents/Synth1Patches/zipbank/" folder and it worked. All preset banks show up in the Synth1 window and work fine so far.

I gave it a go and got the same result as miro - but I just left-clicked on the link in Safari. Then I right-clicked and downloaded as a file so that Safari didn't call the OS X unzipper automatically. And then decompressed it: then it came out with the bundle bit set properly. So it seems to be down to the vagaries of OS X's built-in unzipper.

For anyone who doesn't own a better Finder replacement such as PathFinder and wants to make the folder look like a regular VST without redownloading it. Open up Terminal and type (or paste):

setfile -a B /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/Synth1.vst

That will do the job. Use at your own risk etc etc.

I'm using Live8.2.2 w/t 10.6.8 mbp coreduo2, and it's working flawless.
Loaded up a lot of presets for it too.
Did a couple of sounds, and works with no faults or crashes.
I'm happy, cuz this synth is a lot of fun really.
So simple, yet can do some great sounds.
