Yes Zen manages Synth1 presets fine.
However... I just tried the MAC version and it seems it has a different SynthID than the PC version... which means that as far as presets are concerned, they are both different synths.

Does anyone know how to get in touch with the author ? The PC and MAC version *must* have the same synthID if presets are supposed to be cross-platform. This is not a Zen requirement, but a VST requirement.

Hi, my name is satoshii. Nice to meet you.
Daichi(the developer of Synth1) is my colleague.
I'm very happy to work with him.
Actually, I have little knowledge about this software.
However, I can share the topics of it, because his seat is next to me in my office
and I fell sure that he tells me about this software.
If you have some useful information about Synth1, please tell me.
I want to be able to use it as soon as possible.

Thanks,

I sent a few mails to Daichi but never got any answer, about the preset handling thing.
It would be much better if synth1 could look, for instance, in a "presets" folder in its own folder, instead of the "ini" system which tells it where to look for, it doesnt make sense, and is horrible to deal with if you change hd drive letter, or folder location etc...

Thanks

Considering that this was a long time PC only plugin and it has now been ported to Mac... and all the while has remained free... it really makes larger companies such as Cakewalk look bad for not offering a Mac version of z3ta especially when it's supposed to be a major upgrade. Pretty sad that even a free developer "gets it" but a certain few larger companies do not.

Daichi says as follows.

I'm sorry that I haven't replied to you in spite of sending valuable comment to me.
I don't feel up to send response to you all because I'm not good at English.

I think your suggestion is certainly true and this method is more general.
I want to improve my software like this in a future, although I can't say when it comes true.

Thanks!

Holy crap, this thread made my day. Really been missing Synth1 since I switched to Mac. TAL's Noisemaker has been my replacement, but I really missed always being able to get the sound I wanted instantly with Synth1.

Now that he is actually aware of this thread, I'd like to take this opportunity to again say...

THANK YOU, DAICHI !!!

In retrospect, discovering Synth1 was life-changing. Having a free instrument
that is rock solid, barely nudging the cpu, with a plethora of great sounds,
and more easy to make, is a great blessing. Thankyou, Daichi! 8)

Don't forget to re-scan your vst folder from the preferences.
(I'm thinkin you'd have already done that though)

Loads fine in latest Live here, OS X 10.6.8.

Thought there's a graphic glitch here. If having Synth1 and another synth on a second midi track.
If you move a knob in Synth1 you get that slider bar showing the value, if you don't click elsewhere to make it disappear from the GUI, and click the other synth track, that slider bar still appears in the Live UI (you can even change it if you want).
