Impressive this synth, very inspiring. I made 6 tracks this month! lol.
I will upload one more for the contest when i finish the last details of my last track.
U-he made a great job with Zebralette. No doubt.
@Urs
Thanks for set free this synth.
Other companies should do the same with some "old" stuff.
By the way, Soundcloud is not going very good right now, the whole page shows strange words and codes.
Have a good day

TY! Won't be using it on this track, which is finally almost done. Now I question my sanity in doing it...

90% sure I know the answer to this but just checking:
Are track delays allowed? Should be, since you could accomplish the same thing by simply de-quantizing and moving your midi notes, but it's sure in heck easier to throw a 20 msec delay on a track then hand-skew midi! Especially in Ableton, where Scene view makes negative delays impossible on the first note (unless you are unemployed and don't care if you spend all day re-jiggering all of your clips
)
Al....most.....done........

And now, for something completely different...
CHASING MRS. PEEL
DAW - Ableton Live (Mac)
20 instances of Zebralette
Effects used:
Audio Damage Rough Rider compression
Martin Eastwood MVerb reverb
Yohng W1 limiter
Some details:
There are actually only 15 sounds - 5 are double tracked (you are not going to make a ride cymbal with one instance of Zebralette!)
Everything is awash in reverb (as befits the genre), but there are only two instances on sends - one tight verb for "live" instrument sound, one "big" verb.
Compression and a limiter or two used on some percussion, bass. EQ on each most tracks, but only once or twice does it get "surgical".
Master track has some light EQ for sweetening, compression, and limiting.
There are only two sounds that are anachronistic for a 60's TV or movie theme - the "Daft Punk" lead sound, and the ethereal wash that shows up now and then. I could have made a track with a million different wonderful electronic sounds; instead I chose to replicate real instruments with a one oscillator synth. I'll be visiting my therapist about this...
Enjoy, and good luck to all!

TY for the compliment!RuediRena wrote:I enjoyed your explanations as much as your track.
It's was an interesting track to produce but I don't know that I'll try something like that again (simulating a pop orchestra with a synth!) Lots of things need to be different from what I'm used to. For example, for most electronic music (even if it's not dance), the emphasis is on a solid bass down to the subs. But that overwhelms a track like this (I A/B'd it in my car with other non-eletronic tracks to get a balanced mix - any speaker shake and I cut back, especially on the kick, which should be subtle).
I also compressed/limited it a little more than I initially wanted to in order to convey a bit of saturation to the sound without breaking the rules
Since I record some rock/pop stuff with my band and friends I'm used to that style of production, but not with a digital instrument!
But it just goes to show how sonically solid and diverse Urs's designs - this contest has everything

Notes
I feel passion for asian culture, and this song is a poor way to demonstrate it, really.
I can perceive a perfection and beauty in the way asian culture traditional people do things, like, with passion, quietly and with parsimony, and at same time, with temperament, like spanish flamenco dancers.
I like that way to do things.
But now, the world seems a kind of stressful racing to get a fake goal and piss down whoever put in front of you...
I'm in love with asian culture, the traditional part.
Firstly i was about to call it "The GuZheng Girl" my favourite asian instrument. But i decided for that second title, finally.
Is a track i made while learning a bit about the Mid-Side mastering technique.
Track composed in 7 hours. No CPU problems this time.
Another song dedicated to Jin. My dreamed asian girl.
Enjoy the plucked melody.
As usually, any problem, let me know.
Have a good day
