A really amazing sounding synth. Really impressive.

I'm going to download the mac player as well to try this out on my macbook and then maybe start saving some pennies for the full grown version.

Its really great to hear all the positive comments - glad you guys like it so much :)
One thing though - it appears it will not connect to virtual midi ports or work in the background? Am I missing a setting? Would be a shame not to be able to connect this to an iOS sequencer, etc. I know that many are not doing this right now - Sunrizer and Nlog Pro do - but sure is nice to have.
We have implemented Core MIDI - so you can plug in external MIDI devices, but we haven't implimented virtual MIDI ports or made it run in the background. We'll certainly considert that for future versions - we really welcome feedback - the main difficultly is that Alchemy needs pretty much all the CPU on the device, so there's not much to run other apps at the same time - unless we constrain polyphony further which might work especially on faster devices like iPad2. Certainly we'll think about it as I agree it would be cool.

Nice sounds and it is free! Thanks.

The snapshot pad makes more sense in a touch-environmen, as opposed to the desktop version, using a mouse. I think maybe the buttons for transposing the keyboard up and down are bit too tiny. The lock/unlock button, for zooming and moving the keyboard left and right, makes sense, but I wish I could double tap or something to get out of the unlocked mode. Hoped for something a bit less traditional, like the SynthX' XY-keyboardlike controller, for playing this thing…:)

And there is no way of importing your own presets/third-party provider presets, or making presets with your own samples. I guess designing sounds with your own samples, like in the desktop version, would make this app stand out a bit more. At least the pro version, but I realize it is no easy to just put these features on iOS.

There may be few reasons to upgrade to the pro version if I already got some midiapps to mimic the controller behaviour of the app. Also I am most fond of my third-party banks so not much need for the pro version, but maybe I'm missing something?

Anyway. Great work! And good luck with the sales. I'm guessing it'll do alright. I almost bought the pro version as a reflex. Now I'm on the fence, - I think 8)

Beta-tested the Beta and just now happily downloaded and then paid for the Pro upgrade. Love it! It is fantastic as a controller for the desktop app.

The main criticisms I am hearing from others are the lack of virtual MIDI ports and especially the inability to create custom presets.

It's pretty astounding to me that you guys squeezed most of the engine into the iOS app and that it sounds so good - congratulations on that.

A couple issues I am having: my purchases are not registering in-app. In other words, I paid for the Pro version via my iPhone, but on my iPad the link still says $19.99. Also, sound banks that I own for the full desktop app are listed as $4.99, when it is my understanding that I essentially already paid for them.

I'm reluctant to hit the in-app purchase buttons and find myself accidentally spending a lot of extra money :P

Fantastic app and great job done! Love this, but one thing: Any chance to get the keys working with an AKAi Synthstation25??

We will consider this for a future update as it requires specific support via the Akai SDK. It really depends on how many users make the request.

Peace,
Andy.

This seems to be quite a popular request so we'll definitely consider it for one of the updates. Stay tuned!

Not sure what the problem would be. I would try logging out of your Camel account on both devices, and also from the iTunes store. After logging back in the upgrade should be registered and the extra banks listed as free downloads.

I came to this forum just now to say the exact same thing... If I hit that $19.99 button on my second Apple device will I get charged again or will it recognize that I already paid? And yes, I am logged into my account, but it's not seeing that I should be able to download the Pro version.

As far as I know multiple devices have been working as one would expect during testing - the app + banks available without requiring additional purchases. Please try logging out of your Camel account and iTunes account on each device, then logging back in.

If that doesn't work let us know and I'll see what's up ...

@des - Ben posted about virtual MIDI earlier in the thread. This is what he said:

So we'll certainly consider it although it might be too much for the current generation of devices to handle.

Also worth mentioning that (AFAIK) this development of virtual MIDI cables happened right near the end of the our development efforts, so we haven't really had time to investigate. Other new developments I'd like to see us make use of is the new multi-device sync from Korg.

Andy.

Just tried that, and it still says $19.99 beside the pro upgrade on my second device. Sorry...

Same result here, except that on my iPhone the first to soundbanks now say FREE (yay!) but Cinematic still says $4.99 (this is Cinematic Atmospheres, right?) EDIT: NO, it's a different bank. Ok, iPhone is all good then :)

No change on my iPad after signing out, force-quitting Alchemy, signing out of iTunes Store, rebooting, and signing everything back in.

@ srcodling - thanks for trying my suggestion, sorry it didn't work out.

Unfortunately I don't have an answer for this right now. All I know is that multiple devices have been working OK during testing. I'll find out more info as soon as possible and post back here.

Peace,
Andy.

@ srcodling and vimanaboy - I've sent you both PM's. The Pro Upgrade certainly should be working on multiple devices ... the test will help us figure out what's wrong. Thanks.

Andy.
